Mount Scott Chapter 602 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (Newsletter, 21 January, 2022). Greetings all, this last year was a productive one for us; albeit having the downsides of Covid and losing patriots Jerry Orr and Billy Grant. Please pray for all of our patriots with serious medical conditions. And the healing of all Americans and America, herself. Our next meeting is on 1 February, 6 pm at Hilton Garden Inn on 2nd Street here in Lawton. We need attendance at these meetings in order to stay in business. Please come! Last year's donations:
$1,500 and a big scren tv for the Lawton-Fort Sill Veterans Center, $1,000 to the Armed Forces YMCA food pantry, $1,000 to the new American Legion Post 6 to help with Veterans claims/assistance (old Veteran's Service Center), $1,000 to the DAV post 26 to help with their disabled van maintenance, $500 to the Lawton Food Bank, $1,000 to the Comanche County Sheriff Stradley's help for poor residents/victims, $1,000 to patriot Robbie Blackford for the new Stephens County "Shop with a Sheriff" program, $1,000 to to support the Fort Sill Kid's hunting and fishing programs, $1,000 to Melanie Jackson's patriotic renovation of the Mt. Scott Cemetery and her pursuit of getting Ivan L Brady a VA headstone, $1,000 to support Girl Scout Teresa Leday-Mauney's 9/11 Monument in Elmer Thomas Park (which put her over the top to get matching funds), $750 to a top Cameron University ROTC student, $100, a certificate and medal to each if our 3 local area high school JROTC student PH awardees, $500 Each to three different students for a privately funded "Gary & Louann Bounds Purple Heart Educational Assistance Grant", $1,000 for Hurricane relief for our PH brothers and sisters in Louisiana, $500 for nice frames/pictures and stories to honor and support a Wall of Honor at Renolds Army Hospital for Medics/Corpsmen that were KIA, $500 for funds to start to purchase/distribute PH parking signs in all of Oklahoma's state parks (special recognition to patriot Matt Sims for doing both of the last two items listed here. OK (state) is actually taking over our PH parking signs project. Also a special shout out to patriot (and Stephen's County Deputy Sheriff) Robbie Blackford for doing most of the heavy lifting in making Stephen's County a Purple Heart City. And his big heart in starting his "Shop with a Sheriff" program for victims of crime/tragedy. We also attended several patriotic holiday events and also recognized/honored our local 8 PH veterans on August 7th (Purple Heart Day) at the ODVA Flower Mound Veteran's facility; with PH coins for them (and cake and punch for all). We earn our money by doing a mass mail out and applying for grants, etc., on line. Please donate to us, if you can:

We still have about $12,000 in our account, going into a new fund-raising cycle. We're in good shape, financially,
but we need more involvement/attendance to survive. Help us to continue doing great things! Yours in Patriotism,

Adjutant and acting Finance Officer for Mount Scott Chapter 602
