GUIDE, Inc. GUIDE, Inc. is a substance abuse prevention agency serving Georgia since 1986. (Gwinnett United in Drug Education, Inc.)

is a non-profit community-based substance abuse prevention agency that has been serving Gwinnett County since 1986. GUIDE originated as a joint effort by the Gwinnett County Board of Education and the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to assure an on-going, concentrated and comprehensive approach to substance abuse prevention in Gwinnett. Since then, GUIDE’s services have expanded to also inc

lude the metropolitan Atlanta region and the entire state of Georgia. Georgia Teen Institute is a youth leadership program for Youth Action Teams throughout Georgia that begins with a summer training program and continues with year round follow-up. Youth teams attend a four-day residential camp held at a college to develop leadership skills and engage in a strategic planning process through workshops, team and networking meetings and team building activities. The program currently supports 30-40 teams around the state. GUIDE follows up with additional training and technical assistance, networking meetings and monthly reports outlining teams’ actions and activities.

Summer brings more free time, changing schedules and new opportunities for youth to spend time with friends. While the season can be exciting, less structure and increased independence can also increase the risk of underage drinking and other risky behaviors.

Applications are open to join our Youth & Family Advisory Board (YFAB) supported by Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities!

This board engages youth and young adults, ages 15-23, and parents/guardians in providing feedback, support and voice to prevention projects across Georgia.

YFAB members are trained through a combination of virtual and in-person events on related and relevant topics including, but not limited to, advocacy, substance use trends, the Strategic Prevention Framework, leadership, communication, teamwork, public speaking and facilitation. Each YFAB member participates regularly on a committee.

Compensation is available for participation!
