Welcome, Deputy Chief John Retalis!

The 200 Club of Mercer County is proud to welcome John Retalis, Deputy Chief of the Hamilton Township Fire Division, as Executive Board Member.

Deputy Chief Retalis has dedicated nearly 30 years to the fire service and to the community he calls home. A Hamilton Township resident for 48 years, he began his career as a volunteer with the Nottingham Volunteer Fire Company in 1996 before moving into a career path that has taken him from firefighter to captain to fire chief to his current role leading daily operations for Hamilton's 137-person, 8-station career department.

Beyond his operational leadership, Deputy Chief Retalis has consistently stepped up in governance and community roles — as a founding trustee of the Hamilton Township Career Firefighters Foundation, a board member of the First Responder Joint Insurance Fund, and secretary of the Trenton Firefighters Federal Credit Union. His commitment to supporting first responders and their families makes him a natural fit for the 200 Club's mission.

We thank Deputy Chief Retalis for his Board leadership in our work supporting Mercer County's public safety families.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and longtime board member, Gil Lugossy, who passed away this weekend at the age of 90.

Gil was a true public servant — serving as Mercer County Sheriff and holding roles as a county freeholder, Hamilton school board member, state parole board member, and fire commissioner. He gave a lifetime to this community.

To our 200 Club family, he was simply Gil — a dedicated board member, a steadfast friend, and a presence we will deeply miss.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. We will share details as they become available. Please keep Gil's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Gilbert W. Lugossy, a pillar of Mercer County who served nearly fifteen years as sheriff, as well as stints as a freeholder, Hamilton school board member,
