A great story about the lasting impact of community service and the people who help make our neighborhoods special. The Woods family’s dedication as crossing guards touched generations of Oakhurst students and families.

It’s a reminder that strong schools are built not only by educators, but by caring community members who help support and protect students every day.

Lesie Brooks retired as a crossing guard after six years, continuing her mother Earnestine’s 17-year legacy at East Lake and Oakview, embodying dedication, community care, and a promise fulfilled.

The deadline to complete training requirements for school board members in Georgia is June 30, and GSBA’s School Board U offers flexible online courses designed to help you earn credit hours on your schedule.
