mission is to raise awareness about domestic violence against women & children by embracing, educating, empowering and providing supportive services to victims as well as the community. Unfortunately, her story is a very tragic one, because she ending up losing her 4 year old son, Austin Tyler, to domestic violence. On September 21, 2004, Austin and Ladonna were both shot by Austin's father, an on

-duty Police Officer, before he eventually shot and killed himself. Sadly, 4 year old Austin did not survive. What You Should Know About Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a pattern of abuse which can be either physical, s*xual, economic and/or psychological used to get control and maintain control over an intimate partner. It's important to know that you do not deserve to be abused, nor are you responsible for the abuse. The following are just a few examples of types of abuse that are common:

1. Physical Abuse - Pushing, hitting, choking, kicking, biting or threatening you with a weapon.

2. Psychological Abuse - Isolating you from your friends and family or threatening to take your children away from you.

3. Economic Abuse - Refusing to give you money for food, clothing or supporting your children.

4. Sexual Abuse - Forcing you to have s*x when you do not want to and/or making you have s*x with other people.

Domestic violence is affecting families and communities every single day. Too many lives are being lost, too many voices are being silenced, and too many survivors are fighting battles alone. We cannot continue to look away.

The Austin Tyler Foundation is working to bring awareness, support, healing, and hope to survivors and families impacted by domestic violence, but we need our community to stand with us.
