From Good to Great(ly Dismayed)

How quickly any one of us could move from trusting God’s goodness to doubting it. In one moment we enjoy His care and protection; the next, we begin to lose confidence; begin to doubt. Somewhere along the way, we turned our gaze, looked away briefly. And now... now we find ourselves in unfamiliar and difficult places; living an unprecedented history. What happened?...

Project: Reset

A neighbor was once asked by another, where he was headed - his car being packed with what looked like far more luggage than one person could possibly need, for any type of trip. “Vacation,” he said with a smile. Inwardly he knew that vacation was the destination, and that once he had gotten out onto the road, well, then he’d have already arrived at his destination....

Recognition

Although many of the Historical books of the Bible would be discounted as archaic for the modern Church, we should look instead to them as being rather timely. We may wonder why the need to re-read what once was - considering the fact that we don’t necessarily follow those customs and manners today. So why read? Throughout history, from the Garden of God to the 21st Century Church, when God's witness fails in his people, they’ll enter a state of spiritual captivity and find themselves spiritually or positionally outside (or away from) the designated location (or even ground) - from where God's testimony belongs....

Approval Rating

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15 We all want to "stay in the know". I mean, it's important to remain ahead of current events so we can share our Biblical insights as if we have some type of privy....

Natural Conclusions

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Psalm 127:1 When you're a child, the thought of fairy tales makes sense, as they are designed to teach the value of 'wonder'. As that child grows and develops a sense of reason, that term "wonder" now becomes more of probing than that of entertainment - it deepens into reflection and reason. ...

Look At It

A young man had an extreme fascination with everything to do with the ocean, and set out to obtain a degree in Marine Biology. Having saved all his money to do so, he entered the best school in the land hoping to fulfil his hopes and dreams. Upon the 1st day of class he arrived to meet the Professor who came out to the center table of the classroom carrying a plastic fish on a stand....

The Good That We Would

While paying attention to the movements of Christ, (apart from the strategies) when studying the Gospel accounts, we can see what appears as 'personal devotion' from him to the Father, (Ps. 40:8) and yet it's not the personal "ground" - but of the Spirit - from whom He takes direction. We might believe that a dedicated will towards God is what He desires in accomplishing His work....

Felt Difficulty

It's very touching to watch a child start to walk. The wobbling, lack of rhythm, stumbles and indeterminate falls, make us feel internally and incredibly fond of what we already know—that is, that they have it in their potential, to one day stand independently in the future. There's sort of a felt difficulty when looking on. It'd seem we're quite aware of those primary years of trial and error....

Paved with Good Intentions

New feels good. It feels fresh, it feels safe. I mean, who doesn't want new, right? A new house, or newer car, or a new phone. New is just... in. And that makes us feel better because that also means out with the old. However, the pressure to perform, and the urgent need to get it right this time. Peer pressures, social pressures, family pressures.......

Is Once Ever Enough?

The embrace of a new year brings such hope, such want, and the resolve to go get it. However, the reality for many is the need ‘to get through’. The dread of the past, the downturns, downfalls, and down days are enough to cause us real mental-health problems amongst other pressures leading to su***de and fueled drug/ alchol addictions. Getting through divorces, childlessness, and lack of employment alongside homelessness is perhaps a little more accurate depiction of many, over against a backdrop of some AI-generated fireworks and confetti....
