Dear Acting/Technical Theatre Students, Theatre Studies, Musical Theatre and Dance students,
I stand with my Black students, friends and colleagues. I can’t speak for every faculty member in Theatre and Dance, but I am sure they share similar sentiments as these.
I love you. I see you. I hear you. I hate that you are still having to fight this fight. I hate that you live in a world where you have to be careful in ways that I have never had to experience. But you are not alone. I am heartsick for the pain and anger you must be feeling. But you are not alone. I love you. I support you. And I will until my last breath fight with you. I stand with you. I will kneel with you (in prayer, meditation and protest).
We have to support, love, fight for and uplift our Black students during what must be a time of overwhelming anger, fear and outrage. Do something concrete. Give to a charity. And most importantly, VOTE! And do it now.
Be safe. Be healthy. Know I am a phone call, text, email or ZOOM call away. I am including what Robin wrote on the MT page below my message to you.
There is a Kneeling for Justice event in Princeton today (June 2) from 5-6:30 if you are in the area. I will attach the flyer. Thanks to Sydnie Roy.
What you can do now:

From Robin Lewis:
“Our country is in pain and what our Black students are going
through and their suffering has no words to do it justice.
Our Black students need us to be visible. Your voices matter.
We love you and hear you.
Don't wait for other people to fix it.
As a community we can work together and show our support.
Compassion.”
"Rev.Jacqui Lewis PH.D. is leading an anti racism workshop on June 17th & 18th "
..exploration of the intrapersonal and interpersonal dynamics of race, racism, privilege and implicit/explicit bias in culture, in our lives and in the organizations to which we belong."
Taken from her FB page:
"Her PhD in Psychology will come in handy as we discuss racial identity development. She’ll talk about practical tactics to dismantle white supremacy. And even coping mechanisms for POC who have long been woke to the reality of race in our country. It’s time to get on the same page. America is burning."
The Call of This Moment: An Anti-Racism Workshop

Stay and healthy and safe:
