The Gwinnett County Public Library exists to provide the place and resources for us all to connect, learn, and grow. This mission is at the heart of the Hooper-Renwick Memorial Program Fund and Endowment’s principal program which all proceeds will go. Groundbreaking on the new library was held on 10/26/2022 and expected to be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2024.

The Hooper-Renwick school in Lawrenceville was the county's only school for Black children for the entire county during segregation. Desegregation took place in 1968.

The Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee formed to preserve the school and in 2020, the City of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement to preserve the historic school and create the first themed public library/museum in the southeast.

The Gwinnett County Public Library Foundation raises money to bridge support beyond county funding. The Foundation’s support of Gwinnett County Public Libraries allows the library system to continue providing programs that deliver community enrichment through literacy, educational accessibility for all ages throughout Gwinnett County.
