Anderson County Animal Care & Control Anderson County Animal Care & Control is a unlike other traditional animal shelters. We are a no-kill shelter. Our goal is to be rooted in our community.

Our mission is to provide services which safeguard the publics safety to humanely house and care for animals in its charge educates the public about responsible pet ownership and gives adoptable animals a second chance at a forever home Our officers specialize in rehabilitation, transforming animals' lives, and the best animal care. Our volunteers, fundraising, donations, and foster program are huge supporters in making our mission possible. We are always welcoming the public to play, walk, and sit with our animals. MEET OPAL: A SURVIVOR WITH A HEART READY TO HEAL

Opal can’t tell us what she’s been through, but she shows us. Loud voices make her crouch and crawl away, doing her best to hide.Still, forgiveness is on her radar. Every day, she crawls up to one of us for gentle pets—pets that don’t hurt, pets she’s still learning to understand, but clearly enjoys.Opal needs patience, TLC, and a true foster home to help her become the dog she was meant to be. She loves other dogs, playing, and running, and would thrive with a backyard and a patient canine pack.And to the person who abused Opal and turned her loose: she’s doing wonderfully without you.

MEET QUIRK: 50% EARS, 50% CHAOS, 100% UNEMPLOYED!

WANTED: A family with patience, a sense of humor, and possibly earplugs!Meet Quirk! She’s 12–16 weeks old, possibly a Shepherd mix, but we’re pretty sure there’s some gremlin in there too.This little troublemaker has been with us almost a month and is still waiting for someone to recognize her greatness!

Her qualifications?

Intelligence: Unfortunately, she’s VERY smart.

Energy level: YES.

Communication skills: She has opinions, and EVERYONE will hear them.

Personal space: What’s that?

Other dogs: OBSESSED! Everyone is her best friend.

Cats: Still under investigation.

Ears: Picking up radio stations three counties over.

Well, neither do the animals at your local shelter!We have several lovable dogs and cats just waiting for a chance to get out of the shelter and enjoy a little vacation of their own!

🍂 Give them a chance to decompress and experience the love of a home.

🚨 In honor of Pitt Bull awareness month🚨

Please consider Jasper!
This dude is the very definition of a simple man. He loves outside. He loves inside. He loves his supper. He loves b***y scratches. Jasper was surrender to us with some serious skin issues. Unfortunately a shelter setting makes for slow healing. Jasper is looking for someone who sees past his funky skin and his wet bread smell! He is an older gentleman. Maybe 8ish? He is opinionated and sometimes hard headed, but if you know Pitties, you know that's typical! Jasper tries so hard to be good, but the longer he's at the shelter the more he declines. He has been here for 8 weeks and has had no adoption applications! And we just don't understand why! Jasper is the perfect size for any living situation. He can do an apartment. Or a farm. He is a beautiful blue/grey color. He gets along with literally anything and anyone. And he's a sucker for a good routine. Doesn't anyone want a guy that is just happy to hang out? Who wants to grab take out then chill on the couch? Someone who can give a bath or two to help his wonky skin? Shelter Story

Blake was dumped on a country back road. He was terrified and heartbroken. We had what seemed like hundreds of calls about Blake being on the run. No one could touch him. We would go out there and the mythical creature was nowhere to be found. He finally found refuge in the front yard of someone’s house that didn’t chase him away. Didn’t throw things at him.
One day, armed with a leash and a bag of marshmallows, our staff finally caught him!
We got him safely to the shelter and quickly realized he wanted to be loved! We put him on Petfinder and lo and behold, somebody from Canada fell in love with his sweet face! They said that they were willing travel to Kentucky, just to adopt Blake! They made the arrangements. The paperwork got filled. They stayed in a hotel that night. The very next day Blake got in the car with his forever family and started his journey towards a beautiful new and exciting life.
