ATTENTION: There is still time to sign up for this year’s fall break trip, occurring from October 16-20! We will be in Wichita, Kansas working with Habitat for Humanity. Over the weekend, EWB partook in their first local project of the academic year! It was at the Lawrence Community Orchard, a volunteer-run garden near campus that works hand-in-hand with the Lawrence Fruit Tree Project. While there, our volunteers assisted in garden rehabilitation and sampled various native fruits including persimmons, pawpaws, and jujubes! It was a rewarding volunteer experience, and we can’t wait to host similar ones in the future!

Next Monday, 9/14, the KU chapter of Engineers Without Borders will be tabling at KU’s 2nd annual Reach Week! We will be at the Burge Union from 12 P.M.-3 P.M. giving the rundown of our projects, services, and events. Last week, the Bolivia travel team wrapped up their work with the Colani community! Throughout their two-week trip, the KU participants immersed themselves in masonry and plumbing work by constructing baños alongside the Bolivian community. Some of their favorite moments included dining with the community members and hearing their perspectives on construction improvements. It was overall an enriching experience, and they are excited to continue working with the Colani community next year!

Now, it’s time to announce the chair positions for EWB this upcoming year!

Ella is an upcoming senior in Mechanical Engineering. She is particularly excited for the crowd funding and fundraising events for this year!

Sosena is an upcoming sophomore in Civil Engineering. She is looking forward to being involved with EWB’s local projects and various other volunteering opportunities!

Terry is an upcoming senior in Chemical Engineering. He is most excited about traveling to Bolivia for EWB!

Luke is an upcoming senior in Civil Engineering. He is looking forward to the local projects and football confessions event this year!

Brianna is an upcoming junior in Civil Engineering. She is most excited for the local projects and advertising various EWB events!

Hannah is an upcoming senior in Architectural Engineering. She is anticipating the engineering EXPO and Fall Break Trip!

To anticipate the upcoming academic year, it is time to announce EWB’s incoming executive board, beginning with the Board of Directors!

Camden is an upcoming junior in Mechanical Engineering. This year, he is most excited about hosting the Midwest Regional Conference and preparing both travel teams!

Abby is an upcoming sophomore in Mechanical Engineering. She is most excited about the upcoming summer Bolivia trip and meeting the Colani community through it!

Danni is an upcoming junior in Chemical Engineering. She is looking forward to getting increased involved with Engineers without Borders, assisting others through her leadership position!

Alana is an upcoming senior in Electrical Engineering. She is most excited to travel internationally, brainstorm fundraising ideas, and familiarize herself with new club members through EWB!

Sterling Smith is an upcoming junior in Electrical Engineering. He is particularly looking forward to the international project work surrounding EWB this year!

Medha is an upcoming junior in Civil Engineering, and she is most excited to travel to Bolivia in August!

Last Wednesday, we had a wonderful time hosting our annual EWBies celebration! We recognized our seniors along with our standout club members from the 2025-2026 academic year.

We wish our seniors luck in their future endeavors and wanted to thank all of our club members that have made this year a success!

It’s time for One Day One KU, an annual 24-hour fundraising event, starting on April 28th at noon. To donate to EWB’s mission, go to ku.edu/OneDayOneKU and type “engineers without borders” into the search bar.
