On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Lawrence Police Department’s Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), conducted an undercover narcotics investigation in the Howard Street area, resulting in the arrest of two males and one female on narcotics-related charges.

During the operation, detectives seized approximately 43 grams of fentanyl, 3 grams of co***ne, and $7,432 in cash. Additionally, two outstanding arrest warrants were cleared as a result of the arrests.

All three individuals were transported to the Lawrence Police Department and booked without incident.

The Lawrence Police Department remains committed to addressing illegal drug activity and working alongside our law enforcement partners to help keep our community safe.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Retired Lawrence Fire Lieutenant John “Jack” M. Lannon Jr., a longtime member of the Lawrence Fire Department who proudly served the City of Lawrence for 28 years.

Jack was a proud member of the Lawrence Fire family and will be remembered as a great guy who cared deeply about the department, his fellow firefighters, and the community he served. His legacy of service is also reflected in the loving family he leaves behind, including his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

On behalf of the entire Lawrence Fire Department, I extend our deepest condolences to the Lannon family. Jack will always hold a special place in our department’s history and in the hearts of those who knew him.

Rest easy, Lieutenant Lannon. Thank you for your service, your dedication, and your love for the Lawrence Fire Department and the City of Lawrence.

You will be missed, remembered, and never forgotten.
