Today numerous departments from around the county and out of state department participated in a heavy rescue class. We would like to say thank you to the ones that participated. It was a very well taught class and knowledgeable. Thank you to citizens first for teaching the class. Some more shout outs and thank yous got to Freddie Sisler and Joe Kline for hauling some of the stuff there, Timmy Abrams for donating a skid steer and truck, coal grove tempco for the tractor and Cogans for the donation for the cars and buses. A huge shout out to south point fire department for the use of there facilities and getting lunches served and cooked. Again thank you to all and we hope to continue more training’s like this in the future.

Reminder the heavy rescue class is this Saturday 10-25-25 beginning at 8:00am at south point in the field across from south point fire department. Citizens first will be the instructors for the class. Lunch will be provided by the Lawrence county firefighters association. Hope to see you there.

Let’s keep station 1200 Procterville fire rescue in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as they lay Lonnie Sawyers a brother firefighter to rest. Let’s also keep his family and freinds in our thought and prayers. Visitation will be Monday 10-13-25 from 6-8 at Halls funeral home in procterville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10-14-25 beginning at 11:00am. This will be a full honors funeral. If you could send a truck it would be much appreciated.

If your department is interested in training feel free to reach out to me on facebook messenger or have someone reach out that has my cell # . There is no instructors so you can train with your department the way you usually do.

Reminder the pump operations class is this Sunday at station 1200 beginning at 8:00am with the Ohio Fire Marshall’s office instructing. I highly recommend everyone to attend as to this will be a really good class and it is hands on training. Also keep an eye out for more upcoming trainings happening in the county in the next coming weeks and months.

Tomorrow 9-13-25 Procterville fire will be hosting a chlorine emergency class being put on by the state Fire Marshall’s office at there station. The class begins at 8:00am.

On behalf of the Lawrence County Firefighters Association, we send our deepest condolences to the Chesapeake Fire Department and Lawrence County EMS as we mourn the loss of a dedicated firefighter and Emt Mike Campbell.

Mikes courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, friends, and brothers and sisters during this difficult time.
