At long, long last, I paid my respects at the final resting place of my favorite general, Winfield Scott Hancock. Montgomery Cemetery, Norristown, Pa. Video to come, for Hancock and others buried there.

Samuel Joseph Churchill and some information about his Medal of Honor. I like that they use the word "manfully".

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Civil War in Company G, 2nd Illinois Volunteer Light Artillery, being mustered in as a Corporal on September 5, 1861. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Nashville, Tennessee on December 15, 1864, with his citation reading:

"When the fire of the enemy's batteries compelled the men of his detachment for a short time to seek shelter, he stood manfully at his post and for some minutes worked his gun alone".

He was promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant, and was honorably mustered out on September 4, 1865. He was awarded his Medal on January 20, 1897.

Thomas N. Graham is one of three Medal of Honor recipients buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. (Description below.)

Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Civil War in Company G, 15th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, being mustered in as a Sergeant on June 14, 1861. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on January 1, 1863, he was awarded the CMOH for his bravery during the Battle of Missionary Ridge, Tennessee on November 25, 1863, with his citation reading "Seized the colors from the color bearer, who had been wounded, and, exposed to a terrible fire, carried them forward, planting them on the enemy's breastworks". His Medal was awarded to him on February 15, 1897. He was one of three 15th Indiana Infantry soldiers to be awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Civil War (the others being Sergeant George L. Banks and Chaplain John M. Whitehead).
