Throwing it back to the event that kickstarted our summer! ☀️ Play Day brought city sports groups together to highlight the power of play and physical activity.

Pictured is Beyond Soccer Coach Mentor Jared with his Serving Stars buddy before they started playing with all the participating youth and families 🎾⚽️ (But hey... where’s the soccer ball?! 😉)

This event officially launched our summer, but things got moving so fast we didn’t even have a second to post it.

Reflecting back, when all the groups at Play Day are combined, including the Recreation Department, we’re certain that thousands of young people benefited from play this summer! 🤯 That’s only possible through incredible local partnerships.

And just like that, we’re back! Fall soccer is officially here, and it started with our coach mentors gathering to get ready for the season ahead.

They ran through the rules, responsibilities, and expectations that make a great season, picked up their new gear (including fresh zip-ups!) and grabbed the kits for their teams, soccer balls and all.

Tonight, our first practices begin. We’re grateful for this team and excited for everything this season holds.

Staff Spotlight: Sadie! 🌟⚽

Sadie didn’t start as a player: she first joined us 10 years ago through the Forest Foundation Fellowship Program and never left! Even while pursuing her career as an ESL teacher in Boston, she always stayed involved.

This summer, she was back in a major way. Funded through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund Grant, Sadie spent the summer re-formalizing our Academic Overtime curriculum.

You truly couldn’t keep her off the field, either! She spent her mornings coaching at camp, then headed right back to the office to build out the academic curriculum that ties directly into our grant mission. We are so lucky to have her!

Proud moment alert!🚨Wrapping up the week by celebrating two of our youngest summer hires, Justin and Lynnette! They joined us through MassHire’s YouthWorks program. On top of running camps and evening programs, they completed first aid, financial literacy, and coaches training.

Their final challenge? Creating a Summer Impact Report from scratch! 📊

They presented their hard work last week and are pictured here with Ashley and Andy, two of our other youth hires who mentored them through the entire process!

We can’t wait to share their full report with all of you soon. Huge thanks to the MassHire team for being an incredible partner and funding these summer jobs!

Here is a look at Pavilion Field! This is the last of the 5 Summer Nights locations we’re spotlighting. It is where our older girls played on Monday and Wednesday nights, led by an all-female coaching staff!

👥 204 kids signed up (Grades 1–PG)
🧢 18 Coach Mentors & Junior Coaches
⏱️ 167 hours of play across 49 activities
💯 100% of programs run by Lawrence youth & teens!

Well-rounded summer, if you ask us 😊. Across camps, Summer Nights, festivals and everything in between, our 25+ summer coach and junior coach mentors helped reach 454 kids, filling these months with soccer, wellness, and a whole lot of fun.

We’re taking this week to catch our breath before we gear up for fall next week. Until then, we’ll be holding onto moments like this one.

Every summer brings a visit our kids look forward to. 🚓 The Lawrence Police Department stopped by our Soccer & Wellness Camp again this year, keeping a tradition our players love.

Moments like these are about more than a visit. They give our players a chance to connect with the officers who serve our community, ask questions, share some laughs, and build trust with familiar, friendly faces close to home.

Thank you to the Lawrence Police Department for showing up for our kids summer after summer. These connections matter.

Thirteen coach mentors, one mountain, and a whole lot of first-time hikers. 🥾 Our team took on Mt. Monadnock for a four-hour roundtrip climb, one of the most-hiked peaks in New Hampshire.

That was the whole point: doing hard things together, cheering each other on, and pushing to a clear-sky summit that made every step worth it. We even made a friend up there, shoutout to Will the mountain ranger! 🏔️

The reward? Ice cream at Station 16 in Jaffrey, then tacos at Teo’s Tacos in Haverhill on the way home. 🌮 Getting outside, moving, and taking on something new together is exactly how we build the bonds that carry into everything we do for our kids.

Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Paul “Lefty” Wennik Outstanding Scholarship Award: our own Arabella and Claudia! 🎓

Two graduating seniors, two very different personalities, and one shared “Lefty spirit.” On average, they’ve each spent more than a decade with Beyond Soccer. Both are true go-getters who excel in the classroom, on the field, among their peers, and as mentors to the next generation of players. Arabella has coached and mentored our girls season after season, and Claudia stepped up to lead our summer team this year.

This fall, Claudia heads to Wheaton College to study nursing, and Arabella heads to UMass Lowell to study business. We could not be prouder of who they’ve become.

This award means more than words can say. Lefty was a champion for Beyond Soccer, and thanks to him, these young women have grown into leaders and champions in their own right. A heartfelt thank you to the Wennik family for celebrating with us in June, and congratulations to our past recipients, Illeana, Luiz, Jacob, and Elliany, pictured here alongside this year’s honorees.

The Lawrence Public Library made their annual visit to our Soccer & Wellness Camp, and our kids loved every minute.

They read a book called “Soccer World,” a story about friends who tumble into a soccer world and learn all about teamwork along the way. Then the fun got hands-on, with materials from the library for our players to design and color their very own soccer jerseys.

Books, creativity, and a whole lot of soccer. This is exactly the kind of partnership that makes summer special. Thank you to the Lawrence Public Library for a tradition our campers look forward to every year!
