We're preparing for a new fiscal year for our club, and our new Public Image Chair Frank Ybarra, who has extensive PR experience, led a discussion on how we can use our newsletter, social media, and website to spread the word about our club. We're looking forward to a new year, more new members, and more opportunities to serve our community.

Last week we heard from our wonderful service committee. They plan our many service projects, such as our monthly volunteer appointment at Just Food, our Fall Snack Project, which provides snacks for kids in our district, and bell ringing for the The Salvation Army of Douglas County, Corps Community Center, and much more. Let us know if you would like to join Rotary, and make a difference in our community and beyond!

Last fall, we teamed up with our friends from the Lawrence Central Rotary Club and Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club to donate snacks for Lawrence Public Schools to ensure that children in our district will not have to endure hunger on a school day. We received the sweetest reward when students from New York Elementary sent us thank you cards! We are so proud of this project, but we are even more proud of these polite, gracious students and their excellent teachers.

Chris Roesel, Rotary WASH Cadre Technical Advisor, shared how Rotary Clubs can partner with WASH to help break the cycle of poverty and illness in Uganda by providing water wells and micro loans. Access to clean water improves health incomes and economic opportunities when time isn't spent fetching water. Thank you for what you do, Chris!
