Time flies when you’re having fun! 🎢

When Michael was first matched with his mentee Covid had just hit and they had to figure out a way to have fun while also maintaining a safe distance. 5 years later and their relationship is still going strong and they’re still finding new ways to have fun. It’s so rewarding to see their growth.

Making Memories at Canobie Lake Park 🎢☀️

While we enjoy the remaining weeks of summer before fall arrives, the Amigos Mentoring Program had an amazing day at Canobie Lake Park! Our mentees enjoyed a fun-filled group outing where they had the opportunity to connect with their peers, experience new
adventures, encourage one another, and create lasting memories together.

Beyond the rides and attractions, the day was all about teamwork, positive peer interactions, and building healthy friendships. Students stepped outside of the traditional youth group setting and had the chance to share new experiences and enjoy the amusement
park environment.

We are proud to see our Amigos mentees continue to grow, build meaningful friendships, and strengthen their sense of community. What a memorable day for the Amigos Program!

Big Friends Little Friends is always accepting new volunteers to provide positive mentorship relationships to children across the Merrimack Valley. If you’ve been wanting to give back to your community, the BFLF program is a great place to start!

The requirements are simple; Just 1 hour a week for a minimum of 1 year.

Sign up with a friend, a coworker, your spouse, your children, or on your own.

Concerned that you might not have what it takes? Maybe you’re worried that you won’t be able to relate to a young person or know how to deal with difficult situations if they arise. No worries! We provide you with extensive training on how to communicate with adolescence, how to set boundaries and maintain healthy relationships, and how to navigate the many stages of life your mentee will go through.

We also provide you with a match support specialist throughout your journey as a mentor. They are there to check-in with you and your mentee monthly in the first year and quarterly in the years to follow. They are also there to provide you with any additional training or resources you may need.

If costs are your concern, FSMV, BFLF, and our partners at Mass Mentoring Partnership offer many events to you and your mentee throughout the year for FREE. Match support specialists also provide you with resources for free events within your community.

Just 1 hour a week can have a lifelong impact on the life of a child in need of a positive role model.

🌮🥗 Healthy minds, healthy bodies, and happy memories! 💙
During our second Amigos Youth Group session of July, our mentees explored the importance of maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle as they continue growing into adolescence. Together, we discussed favorite fast-food meals, learned about the effects of consuming too many ultra-processed foods, and practiced reading nutrition labels to become more informed about the foods we eat.
The fun didn’t stop there! Our youth expressed what a healthy life balance means to them by creating unique sculptures using art supplies, then wrapped up the evening with a hands-on culinary activity by building their own delicious tostadas! 🌮
At Amigos, we believe learning is most meaningful when it’s interactive, creative, and fun. We’re proud of our mentees for their curiosity, teamwork, and willingness to try something new!

A new Amigos journey has officially begun! 🎉

We had an incredible time welcoming our students during our Amigos Program Orientation! It was wonderful to meet everyone, introduce our team, and share what this year’s mentoring experience has in store.

The Amigos team is excited to kick off another amazing program cycle filled with meaningful mentoring connections, unforgettable experiences, and youth group sessions that combine fun, learning, creativity, and personal growth. From interactive workshops and hands-on activities to community outings and mentorship, our students will have countless opportunities to build confidence, develop life skills, and create lasting friendships. The Amigos team looks forward to an exciting year of learning, laughter, and growth! 🧡💚❤️

Big Friends Little Friends is celebrating 2 new matches so far this month! 🎉

Our new mentors Patty and Quinn are going to be an amazing addition to our program. Our Match Support Specialists are working hard to make the perfect match based on geographical location, interest and hobbies, communication styles, and more.

Just 1 hour a week can have a life long positive impact on a child. If you’ve considered mentoring join us for our virtual BFLF Information Sessions held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6pm to 7pm.

Celebrating the Success of Our Amigos Students!

While the Lawrence community prepares for summer, the Amigos Program had the joy of celebrating our students for successfully completing the 2025–2026 Amigos Program cycle! 🎓✨

Surrounded by family, friends, and community, we came together to recognize the incredible achievements, growth, and memories our students made throughout the year. It has been a phenomenal and rewarding experience working alongside such thoughtful, motivated, and inspiring young people who were eager to build friendships, connect with the Lawrence community, and grow through the support of mentorship.

This year’s Amigos Program was filled with opportunities for self-discovery, higher education exploration, career discovery, skill-building, and meaningful community connection. We are so proud of all that our students have accomplished and honored to be part of their journey as they continue reaching their full potential.
