As we continue into bat season, encounters between people and bats become more common. Knowing how to respond after a potential bat exposure can help keep our homes, families, and pets safe.

If you think you've had an exposure, you can use this tool to see if you're at risk and what to do next. https://bit.ly/3OMjha4

If you’re unsure whether you came into contact with a bat or have questions, please call LDCPH at 785-843-3060 and we'll walk you through it.

Be tick aware! Ticks are active year-round in Kansas, but we typically see an uptick during warmer months.

If you experience a tick bite, monitor yourself for the following symptoms for 30 days:
- rash
- fever
- headache
- fatigue
- ulcer or black scab at site
- nausea
- vomiting

If you have any of these symptoms, contact your primary care provider for any necessary follow-up care and treatment.
