Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 8 am -4 pm at 420 Casa Bonita Dr., Lawrence KS. 66049. The Lawrence Bicycle Club will be selling all leftover bicycles & gear that did not sell during our October Cyclefest. After 2:00 pm all bicycle clothing and shoes will be Free. This is our final sale and all proceeds from the sale goes to Lawrence Bicycle Club, “Buy a Kid a Bike” fund.

All bikes have had a mini tuneup which included tires pumped up, chain lubed, bicycle cleaned.

*Buyers are welcome to fully inspect and ride the bike while wearing a helmet. Bikes are Sold As-Is, Where-Is with No Warranty.

From one of our Dog Days People — Bicycle & Gear Sale, Lawrence KS (3 Separate Sale Dates). Fundraiser for Lawrence Bike Club “Buy a Kid a Bike Fund”

The Lawrence Bicycle Club (LBC) has been collecting donated Bikes/Gear from our 400 members and general public. Bikes and gear will be offered for sale on the following three dates:

*Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10 am -2:30 pm at Lone Star Lake Community Building, 665 E 665 Rd, Lawrence KS 66047.
(This is also the location for the Tour de Chicken Creek Gravel Bicycle Ride.)

*Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 10 am to 3 pm at Broken Arrow Park, 2800 Louisiana St, Lawrence KS 66046. (This is also the location for the 57th annual Octoginta Bicycle Ride and Bicycle Expo event.)

*Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 8 am to 4 pm at a private residence in Lawrence KS (address will be listed on October 12th with a new posting). We will be selling leftover bicycles & gear.
Items will be greatly discounted from 2 pm to 4 pm.
After 4pm —-Jerseys and bike shorts will be free.

*Some bicycles/gear will be given to Lawrence Community Cycles a 501c3 non-profit.

*Proceeds from sales goes to Lawrence Bicycle Club, “Buy a Kid a Bike Fund”.

LBC Donations:
Over 25 bicycles from such brands as Trek, Cervelo, Giant, Cannondale, Trek, Surly, Schwinn, Diamond Back, Specialized, Centurion, Huffy, Raleigh, and Litespeed. To name a few models: Surly Karate Monkey with Rohloff 500/14 hub, Cervelo P2 TT/Triathlon bike with Zipp 808 wheels, Specialized Roubaix, Litespeed C3 road bike, Giant Stance mountain bike and Specialized Crux gravel bike.

Don't forget the Young Life 5k is Saturday. Paul let us know this morning that packet pick-up will be 4-6 at Ad Astra Running on Friday. You can also get your packet before the race on Saturday.

Looking for a fun cross-country race this fall? You're invited to join Paul Riley at the YoungLife 5k.

Who: Runners, walkers, families with children and volunteers
What: Register and participate (run, walk, or volunteer) in the Young Life 5K, one of the most scenic and fun running opportunities in Lawrence. Race as an individual for open and age group honors with the option of also competing as a team of at least three people. Or, register to run virtually. After the main event, run with your kids for free in the 1K Family Fun run.
When: Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. (5K) and 9:45 a.m. (Family Fun Run)

A little over a week ago we had a request from the Cordley Elementary Marathon Club here in town. If you'd be interested in helping, please reach out here and let us know. We'll put you in touch with the right people.

The club is planning to meet Friday mornings from 8:00-8:30 before school starts and run laps around the playground (or in gym if weather is bad). Volunteers help scan kids' badges to track their laps. There is a little bit of training to get the app on your phone for scanning, so ideally a volunteer is able to commit to several Fridays of the school year.

Let me remind you of two things:

Around 100 people regularly brave the summer heat and push themselves to their limits in hopes of getting their hands on coveted "Dog Days" T-shirts. Don "Red Dog" Gardner has led the community workouts for more than four decades.
