Early Childhood Collective of Douglas County

Early Childhood Collective of Douglas County This SB6 page is designed as a forum for parents of young children and those who want these As a coalition, SB6 works across systems.

SB6 works with partners to develop a community-wide system to ensure that parents of young children have what they need to succeed. SB6 selects, designs, implements (through implementing partners) early childhood projects, programs and policies that further the Douglas County Comprehensive Early Childhood Plan. This plan consists of the following components:
1. All families with young children hav

e access to comprehensive, coordinated, collaborative systems that are responsive to the unique needs of each family.
2. All families have access to high quality, affordable early care and education.
3. All families with young children have access to systems that coordinate resulting in effective elementary education transitions that ensure optimal social, emotional, and cognitive development.
4. All families with young children have access to the resources needed to balance work and family life.
5. All families have local access to coordinated physical, emotional, and dental healthcare and wellness services and safe environments.

We’re excited to share that for the entire month of March, when you shop and eat at The Merc, you can round up your spare change or make a donation at checkout to support ECCo. This is an easy way to uplift our programs that work directly with families while also supporting a local business that gives back. 💚🥳

Thanks to support from the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, we are now an official milk depot site in partnership with the Oklahoma Mothers' Milk Bank! Human milk is the best medicine for sick and premature babies, and we’re honored to help make safe donor milk more accessible.👩‍🍼

Having a local depot also brings Douglas County one step closer to earning the Communities Supporting Breastfeeding Plus designation through KBC — a recognition for communities building strong, breastfeeding-friendly systems of support. 🥳

Like raising children, this work truly takes a village. So if you’ve ever considered donating, we invite you to take the next step and start the screening process today. Every ounce makes a difference for a baby in need. 💕

Today Cans for the Community donated $1,000 to Centro Hispano Resource Center, a nonprofit organization that serves Latino and Spanish speaking families with children age 6 and under. They provide the following services: care coordination, language therapy, resource networking, advocacy, and child development screening.

💙 We’re sending a HUGE thank-you to Maximus Lawrence and their EAC team for hosting a diaper drive for our families! Community support like this means so much and lets new parents focus on what matters most. 🍼🤎

Thank you to all that contributed and made this possible! 🥳

🍪 Milk and cookies… the perfect pair. 💛 Just like breastfeeding support and community care.

We’re grateful for the everyday moments — and the families behind them — that remind us why this work matters. Looking to make a BIG impact this holiday? Give to our collective’s Giving for Good campaign and help sustain culturally rooted, community-led support.
