💛 Supporting LGBTQ youth starts with supporting families.

The Family Acceptance Project uses research and education to help parents and caregivers understand how their responses to an LGBTQ child can affect that child’s health and well-being. Its work helps families from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds strengthen relationships and learn practical ways to support their children.

The University of Michigan is recruiting parents and caregivers of LGBTQ youth and young adults ages 14–25 for an online program focused on supporting their child’s health and well-being and strengthening their family.

Whether you have questions, concerns, or simply want to learn more, this may be a helpful opportunity.

Participants can earn up to $260!

This month, we’re sharing Skeletitos: Make Every Moment Count by Susie Jaramillo!

This colorful, playful book introduces little readers to Día de los Mu***os while sneaking in some early learning fun — including counting, telling time, and plenty of silly rhymes. 🕐🔢💀

And yes… there’s a moveable clock built right into the book! 👀

📚 FREE TUTORING FOR LOCAL STUDENTS!

Need a little extra help with math or reading? Lawrence Public Library’s Tutoring Club offers FREE tutoring with KU students who are ready to help!

📖 Reading: Pre-K–6th grade

There are lots of days and times to choose from, so families can find an option that works for them. What a great resource for our Full Circle families! 💚

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend the Billy Mills Middle School choir concert, and I left feeling so incredibly proud of our community. ❤️

I was there to support some of my daughter’s friends — because apparently I’ve happily adopted half the kids she knows 😂 — but then I started spotting some familiar faces in the choir.

Our Full Circle kids. ❤️

And oh, what a feeling it was to see them up there.

Watching these young people step onto that stage, share their voices, and shine was such a special surprise. I know these kids. I’ve watched them grow, and getting to see them doing something they’re proud of, in front of a room full of people cheering them on, made my heart really happy.

They did a phenomenal job. 🎶❤️

Another really cool surprise was the theme of the concert: “Verses in Harmony.” The entire program featured musical adaptations of works from some pretty incredible literary voices — Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and others.

Middle school choir + classic literature + beautiful music? Pretty dang cool. 📚🎶

And I have to give a special shoutout to the six Billy Mills students selected for Honors Choir! What an incredible accomplishment. Being selected is a big deal, and these students deserve to be celebrated for their hard work, talent, and dedication. 👏🎶

But honestly, one of my favorite parts of the night was looking around the auditorium.

It was PACKED. Overflowing.

I really didn’t know what to expect, but the Billy Mills community showed up in a BIG way to support these kids.

And I love that.

There is something so powerful about young people looking out into an audience and seeing their people there — parents, friends, teachers, neighbors, and community members — cheering them on.

Billy Mills community, you showed up last night. And I LOVE to see it. ❤️

Congratulations to every student who performed last night! You were incredible, and I hope you know how many people were proud of you and cheering you on. 🎶✨

💚 A Loss for Our Community — And We’re Here to Help

The upcoming closure of Hilltop Child Development Center is a heartbreaking loss for our community. For generations of Lawrence families, Hilltop has been a place where children were cared for, families were supported, and lasting memories were made.

We know that behind this announcement are families who now have to figure out what comes next. If your family is affected by the closure and you're looking for new childcare arrangements, Full Circle is here to help.

🏈 A Big Full Circle Shoutout to Lawrence Legion Athletics, LLC

We want to take a moment to recognize Legion Athletics and their coaches for the incredible support they show the youth and families in our community. ❤️

We recently received a message from a Full Circle parent who wanted to make sure Legion’s coaches got the recognition they deserve. She shared that the coaches “go above and beyond for the kids,” including splitting up pickups to make sure every player gets where they need to be. She also shared how much they support their players both on and off the field and the genuine relationships they build with them.

That kind of support means so much to families—and it’s exactly the kind of partnership we love at Full Circle. Legion Sports has been wonderful to work with and consistently treats our families with care, flexibility, and kindness.

Thank you, Legion Sports and coaches, for investing in our kids and being such a great part of their team—both on and off the field! 🏈💚

And a special thank-you to Samantha for taking the time to share her appreciation with us. We love hearing about the people and organizations who make a difference in the lives of Full Circle families!
