Since last fall when new federal SNAP rules took effect, nearly 190,000 MA residents have lost SNAP benefits, including about 67,000 children. Lawrence is among the communities most impacted with 1 in 4 households relying on SNAP to buy groceries.

When SNAP benefits ends, the need does not. More of our Guests are turning to local food pantries and soup kitchens like Lazarus House. Help us keep food on the table for families across the Merrimack Valley.

Here is what is on the lunch menu this month in our Soup Kitchen at 260 Park Street, Lawrence. We are open to anyone who needs a warm meal, seven days a week, 364 days a year for lunch and breakfast. Breakfast hours are 8:30 am to 9:30 am and lunch is served 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Estamos abiertos a cualquier persona que necesite una comida caliente, siete días a la semana, 364 días al año, para el almuerzo y el desayuno. El horario de desayuno es de 8:30 a 9:30 am y el almuerzo se sirve de 11:30 am a 1:00 pm.

September at Lazarus House was full of generosity! You hosted back to school and personal care item drives. You assembled hygiene kits. You served meals at the Soup Kitchen and distributed groceries at the Food Pantry. You baked and cleaned up at the Shelter. You kicked off yearlong at your colleges and high schools so students can give back to and learn about their communities. Thank you to all of our community partners who day after day and month after month.

A longtime Guest recently stopped by with news we could not wait to share: he is now the Assistant Manager of the sober house where he lives. 🎉

Years ago, he worked as a recovery coach, supporting others on their own paths. Today, through his hard work and commitment to his recovery, he is stepping back into leadership and rebuilding the life he has worked so hard for.

We have been honored to know him through every season of this journey. His story is a reminder of what becomes possible when a community believes in someone and keeps showing up. When we invest in one person, the impact can change the whole trajectory of a life, and often, the lives of everyone that person goes on to help.

Congratulations, friend. We are so proud of you. 💙

THANK YOU to everyone who donated to Lazarus House Shelter so the kids and moms could have some new, warm bedding, pillows and towels! We are so grateful. At this point, we are just in need shower curtains and liners! https://bit.ly/4hf8rp1

As a background: Lazarus House Shelter is dry housing. We are able to shelter and provide 100% support to up to 30 women and children at once (*everything* subsidised by donations & grants- food, clothing, meals, case management, etc.) while women work and/or go to school full time.

They are required to save all of their earnings every month while also attending life skills workshops including wellness, housing, and financial literacy. This helps them on a path to stability and self-sufficiency.

Thank you to everyone who made the 2026 Lazarus House Walk for Hope Fall Festival possible. Together, we worked toward a shared goal — ensuring our neighbors have access to basic human needs and building a free from and .

And thanks to you, we not only met our $70,000 goal, but we surpassed it. What does that impact look like for our Guests?

🧡$20,000 means 400 families will receive supplemental groceries for a week from the Food Pantry.
💙$20,000 provides 5,600 warm meals to Guests in the Soup Kitchen.
❤️$20,000 houses and provides all support services to 24 women and children for 10 nights at the Shelter.
💚 $10,000 provides 40 individuals in our housing program with a seven-week financial literacy course.
