400 for Clean Water in Uganda

Tomorrow, we contract to drill the bore hole (hand pumped water well) in Busoola village, Nawansega Parish, Eastern Uganda. ATK and the people of Busoola really need your help. The total needed to pay KLR Drilling is $7,500. We have $5,500 in the bank. We find ourselves $2000 short of our goal.

The people walk 2-2.5 km for water (that is 1.6 to 1.9 miles one way to the nearest bore hole from the church. Today, many in Busoola walk much further than that. There is no concentration of villagers in a central location and they are much spread out.

ATK International, Inc. is constructing a church building for the 150 people of Busoola who are demanding we begin to operate a church there. ATK is currently developing a Primary School that we pray can begin by February 2015 which will depend upon the fresh drinking water of this water well/bore hole.

It is done! The new ATK Waterwell (BoreHole) in Bukenke Village. Thanks to many generous people and Project Lydia, water is flowing and the people of the village are happy!!! The well is right in front of the ATK Church at Bukenke Village, a very remote village with no school and only a bicycle path. God has blessed us!

We have raised over $5000 of the monies needed to dig the water well in the remote village of Bukenke in Eastern Uganda. An Engineer from a local NGO who is here from America will be visiting the site today and is going to assist us in finding the company to complete this job.

Waiting to pump water in Nawansega. Getting water can be a many hour affair. In Bukenke, walking to and from the nearest water can be over one hour. That is for 20 liters (less than 5 gal). For the family to bathe becomes very difficult. Obtaining enough water is difficult. Help ATK drill a water well in Bukenke so clean water can be a bit easier to obtain. In this pic, the wait is more than one hour to use the hand pump.

Watch the video of Julie pumping water at a hand pump water well in Nawansega, Uganda. Now, our mission base needs 30 of these 20 liter jerry cans of water each day. We spend much time pumping water. The bore hole is 1/2 mile from the base. NOW: what if the nearest clean water well was one hour away? Help put water in Bukenke.
