THANK YOU, LAWNSIDE!

We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out and supported Lawnside Day. To our vendors, parade participants, performers, sponsors, volunteers, families, friends, visitors, and everyone who showed up for the community — we appreciate you more than you know.

Even with the rain, Lawnside still showed up and showed out. Y’all danced in the rain, supported vendors in the rain, and kept the spirit of Lawnside Day alive. That’s love. That’s community. That’s Lawnside.

Today, we proudly announce our 2026 Lawnside Heritage Day Grand Marshals, Muneerah Streater Higgs and Linda Shockley.

Their love for Lawnside has never been limited to words—it has been demonstrated through decades of teaching, researching, documenting, preserving, and protecting the history of our community. Because of their dedication, countless residents and visitors have learned about Lawnside’s significance as one of the nation’s first historically African American incorporated communities and its lasting place in American history.

As Lawnside celebrates its Centennial, it is only fitting that we honor two women who have worked tirelessly to ensure our story continues to be told for generations to come.

Please join us in celebrating Muneerah Streater Higgs and Linda Shockley as our 2026 Lawnside Heritage Day Grand Marshals.
