This past weekend our budding young dancers shared their yearlong hard work in a studio presentation for an intimate audience - our Annual Bharatanatyam showcase. Verbal articulation of our craft is equally important for students of Natyam. Hence the students were asked to speak about their experience in preparing the new pieces for today performance. It was nice to hear their perspective. The event was beautifully curated and executed by our teachers .nallani and Here are a few captures by parents.

How we spent our Shivaratri surrounded by divine dancing & chanting

02/18/2026

Shivrathri performance of Sadachaleswaram, the first of Muthuswami Diksh*tar’s Panchalinga kritis. The composition refers to Tiruvarur as Chamatkara Pura, the town of miracles. The imagery of a lamp burning with water instead of oil recalls the devotion of Naminandi Adigal, a revered Shaivite saint.

The depiction of Shiva holding a deer symbolizes mastery over the human mind, which is naturally restless and easily tempted by the six vices K**a Krodha Lobha Moha Madha Matsarya (lust anger greed desire pride jealousy). By holding the deer steady, Shiva represents the calming and stabilization of this inner restlessness
