Today, Peace on Patuxent was honored to participate in the National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration of Life at Cherry View Park in Laurel, Maryland.

A special thank you to Mrs. Roberta Wilburn for her vision, leadership, warm welcome, and invitation to participate in this meaningful event honoring cancer survivors and those who continue the journey.

I was honored to serve as both a panelist and a judge for the Cancer Bake-Off Contest, joining survivors, caregivers, advocates, and community leaders in a day filled with inspiration, fellowship, and celebration.

We were also pleased to join fellow community leaders, including Mayor Keith Sydnor, in recognizing the strength, resilience, and courage of cancer survivors throughout our community.

Through our informational table, Peace on Patuxent had the opportunity to share our mission, connect with attendees, and remind women diagnosed with cancer that they deserve time and space to rest, decompress, and recalibrate.

Today's celebration was a beautiful reminder that survivorship is not only about overcoming challengesβ€”it is about embracing life, finding joy, building community, and creating hope for others.
To every survivor:

πŸ’œ We see you.
πŸ’œ We celebrate you.
πŸ’œ We honor your journey.

Thank you to Mrs. Wilburn and all of the volunteers, survivors, caregivers, and community partners who made this such a wonderful community event.

Because She Matters.

πŸ’œ Out in the Community Today! πŸ’œ

Peace on Patuxent was honored to participate in two meaningful community events today dedicated to health, wellness, and support.
We joined the Maryland Oncology Hematology Cancer Survivors Day Celebration, connecting with survivors and sharing information about our respite and day retreat experiences for women diagnosed with cancer.

We also participated in "A Passport to Health: A Holistic Journey to Well-Being," hosted by the North Arundel County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where we connected with community members seeking resources that support physical, emotional, and mental wellness.
Every conversation matters. Every connection matters.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and remind women facing life-leveling cancers that they are not alone.
πŸ’œ Rest. πŸ’œ Decompress. πŸ’œ Recalibrate.
Because SHE Matters.

Thank you to the organizers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and everyone who stopped by our table today.

Last weekend marked the opening of Peace on Patuxent's 2026 retreat season.

As we reflect on the weekend, we are reminded that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is space β€” space to rest, to breathe, to connect, and to simply be.

For women diagnosed with life-leveling cancers, life is often filled with appointments, responsibilities, treatments, and expectations. At Peace on Patuxent, we create opportunities for women to step away from those demands and focus on themselves.

Throughout the weekend, participants experienced moments of connection, conversation, nourishment, reflection, and restoration. While every retreat is unique, the purpose remains the same: to create a nurturing environment where women are reminded that they matter.

We are grateful to the volunteers, partners, supporters, and donors who help make these experiences possible. Because of your support, women can rest, decompress, and recalibrate while surrounded by care, compassion, and community.

As we begin another season of service, we remain committed to providing hope, empowerment, peace, and enlightenment to the women we serve.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

As we reflect on the opening weekend of our 2026 retreat season, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to two remarkable women who helped make the experience even more meaningful.

A special thank you to Constance Lightfoot for sharing her gift of photography and helping us capture moments that reflect the peace, connection, and purpose of the weekend.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Ebony Fowler, Founder of Embrace Your Light Counseling Services, for sharing her time, expertise, and compassionate presence with our participants. Her contribution helped create a nurturing environment where women could pause, reflect, and focus on their own well being.

At Peace on Patuxent, we know that meaningful experiences are made possible through community. We are grateful for those who choose to share their talents, expertise, and support in service to women diagnosed with life leveling cancers.

Thank you, Constance and Ebony, for helping us begin our 2026 season with purpose, care, and light.

🌿 On the Eve of Opening 🌿

Tomorrow, Peace on Patuxent officially welcomes the beginning of our 2026 retreat season.

Today has been filled with the quiet work of preparation:
fresh spaces,
final touches,
warm meals,
and intentional care.

Every detail is prepared with one purpose in mind, creating a space where women diagnosed with life-leveling cancers can pause, breathe, rest, and simply be.

Thank you to everyone helping prepare the sanctuary for another season of restoration.

🌿 As we pause this Memorial Day to remember and honor those who served, we are also preparing for another season of restoration at Peace on Patuxent.

This Friday, we officially begin our 2026 retreat season.

Over the past several weeks, volunteers, supporters, board members, and community partners have helped prepare the space for another season of respite, restoration, and connection.

Soon, women diagnosed with life-leveling cancers will once again have the opportunity to rest, decompress and recalibrate devoid of expectations and demands while affirming that "She" matters.

As we prepare to welcome our first retreat guests of the season, we would also like to extend a special thank you to TeriBelBlue for returning as our Office Chef for a second season. Her continued support, care, and commitment help create the warm and nurturing experience our participants enjoy during their time with us.

We are grateful to everyone who helps make this work possible. Because of you, the sanctuary doors open once again.

πŸ’œ She Matters.

Last night was a beautiful reminder of what happens when community comes together with intention.

We are grateful to everyone who came out to connect, learn more about Peace on Patuxent, and simply share space with us.

A special thank you to the Mayor of Greenbelt and members of the Greenbelt Council for taking the time to join us, along with so many community leaders and supporters. Your presence matters more than you know.

We are also incredibly grateful for our volunteers and board members who showed up with heart and intention, helping to create such a warm and welcoming space.

Our sincere thanks to Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt for allowing us to gather in their space and helping to make the evening possible.

As we continue strengthening the foundation of POPi, we are reminded that this work is not done alone.

We are deeply appreciative of the support shared throughout the evening as we continue creating space for women to rest, decompress, and recalibrate.

Thank you for supporting the pause. She matters. πŸ’œ
