It's Our Roads, Our SafetyⓇ Week! 🚛🚌

This week, May 5th-11th, we join the national effort to raise awareness about sharing the road safely with large trucks and buses.

NMWAIT is committed to promoting safety for everyone on the road. Together, we can work towards zero roadway deaths.

Here are some key things to remember:

⭐️ Maintain a safe distance: Leave ample space between your vehicle and large trucks and buses.
⭐️ Be aware of blind spots: Large vehicles have large blind spots. Make sure you're visible before changing lanes.
⭐️ Never cut off a truck or bus: They need more time and space to slow down and maneuver.

Let's all do our part to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone on the road.

For Black History Month, the RTA is highlighting changemakers in the transit and mobility spaces. This week, we'll turn the focus to four national organizations that are making a difference.

- The National Minority Women Association In Transportation, Inc. is a "membership-based, minority women-owned advocacy organization" that aims to increase the recognition, advance the goals, and improve capacity of women of color who work in transportation.
- The African American Motorcoach Council is a concentrated and unified voice for Black motorcoach operators that helps draw attention to shared problems and advocate for solutions in the field.
- The American Planning Association - Planning and the Black Community Division offers a place for planners, students, and community members to discuss, research, and act on issues that impact the Black community.
- The Transportation Equity Network is a grassroots network that brings together activists from more than 41 states to pursue policies that advance justice and equity in transportation.
