2nd Annual Art for the Heart Community Event
June 2, 2018
Art for the Heart is an intergenerational community art initiative, engaging people of all ages to explore a love for art and its ability to beautify and unite communities. The first Art for the Heart Community Event was hosted by the Friends of the Sunrise Dan Pearl Library on February 25, 2017. It featured displays of art from local artists, a contest of art judged by event attendees, live music, an art creation station, community vendors, free refreshments, prize giveaways, and more! In April 2017, Art for the Heart Student Ambassadors participated in "The Walls", a live mural creation event on 13th St in Fort Lauderdale, creating a collaborative art piece now displayed at Sunrise Dan Pearl Library. The 2nd Annual Art for the Heart Community Event registration for artists and vendors will open April 23, 2018. Information can be requested at Sunrise Dan Pearl Library, 10500 W Oakland Park Blvd, Sunrise FL 33351 or by email to [email protected]. Paint the Park will echos the success of G.I.V.E. Paint the Park will seek to draw the bridge between social services and the arts by inviting nonprofit partners from the social services arena and the arts community to network and showcase their organizations. This community paint day will bring awareness to social needs including civic participation and beautification. The highlight of the event will be two community art mural projects, designed and facilitated by Jacklyn Laflamme. Mirroring the Paint the Town project of 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale, Paint the Park will engage neighbors, students, parents, and business owners to work together to unify the community and beautify Osswald Park.
