We’re a new Kiwanis club working to change the future for children in Latrobe. Kiwanis exists to help children around the world. Some popular projects that help kids include installing reading rooms in schools, packing backpacks with scho

ol supplies and programs that teach skills or provide safety lessons. The members of this new Kiwanis club will look at the needs of children in the community and decide the projects that will benefit local kids.

Sending a little extra love to our neighbors this week! ❤️🍫

Wednesday, our members spent the evening writing heartfelt notes and packaging sweet treats for the residents at Brookdale Latrobe.

We wanted to make sure they feel extra special heading into Valentine’s Day weekend! 💌

Over 600 meals packed! 🙌✨

What an incredible reminder of the power of community and coming together with purpose. Each meal represents care, hope, and a helping hand extended to someone this holiday season.

🎄 Kiwanis Club of Greater Latrobe – Operation Reindeer Donation Drive 🎄

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Latrobe is proud to support Operation Reindeer, organized by Mental Health America of Southwestern PA and coordinated locally by Michelle Gordon.

This annual initiative provides Christmas gifts for Westmoreland County residents at Torrance State Hospital, a long-term facility caring for psychiatric patients.

During the holiday season, being away from family can be especially difficult. Your generosity can help bring comfort, dignity, and joy to individuals facing serious mental health challenges.

📍 Donation Drop-Off Locations:
– With any Kiwanis Club of Greater Latrobe member
– Eclectique, Downtown Latrobe

📅 Donation Deadline:
December 8, 2025

Below is a list of needed items to help brighten someone’s holiday:

🧥 Clothing (new items preferred)
Men’s XL or larger, Women’s L or larger:
Sweatshirts, sweatpants, tops, t-shirts, jeans, sweaters, pajamas, sports bras, socks, mittens, gloves, hats, ear muffs, robes (no belts), jackets, coats, outerwear (NO scarves or belts)

🧴 Toiletries
Shampoo/conditioner, soap, body wash, toothpaste/brushes, hair spray, hair gel, combs/brushes, ponytail holders, tissues, lotion, shaving cream
(NO razors, alcohol-based items, aerosols, or glass bottles)

💄 Cosmetics
Lipstick, lip gloss, powder, eye shadow, mascara, lip balm, blush
(NO nail polish, glass bottles, or mirrors)

🧰 Miscellaneous
Batteries (especially AA), wallets, watches, portable CD players, Pittsburgh sports memorabilia, writing paper, stationery, stamps, phone cards (high demand), gently used luggage

🎨 Activities
Craft kits, puzzle books, CDs/DVDs, games, activity books, crayons, paints, books, Bibles
(NO needles or wire bindings)

Last night, we celebrated the official Charter Night of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Latrobe — a milestone filled with pride, joy, and deep gratitude. 💙💛

Being part of the Greater Latrobe Kiwanis Club isn’t just about meetings, fundraisers, or service projects. It’s about heart — the heart that every single one of you brings to this community every day. Whether it’s volunteering your time, showing up with ideas, helping at events, or simply checking in on one another — you do it with kindness, purpose, and a true spirit of service.

What makes this team special isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are together. We are a group of people who believe in making a difference, not for recognition or reward, but because it’s the right thing to do. And in a world that can sometimes feel divided, what we do here matters more than ever.
