🌟 Member Spotlight: Laurie Hough 🌟
This month, we're proud to shine the spotlight on Laurie Hough, a dedicated leader, mentor, and champion for women whose service to BPW spans more than 16 years.
Laurie became a dual member of Latrobe BPW last fall and has been a member of Ligonier Valley BPW since 2010. Throughout her BPW journey, she has embraced every opportunity to learn, lead, and help others grow. Her commitment to the organization has taken her through numerous leadership roles, including President of the Ligonier Valley local, District Director, and a variety of local, district, and state committee chair positions. This summer, Laurie will take the next step in her leadership journey as the incoming BPW/PA State President.
What Laurie loves most about BPW is that it celebrates the strength of women while encouraging respect, support, and empowerment for all. She believes that young women are watching the examples we set and that each of us has a responsibility to demonstrate how women should be treated and how we should treat one another.
Her advice to new members reflects the heart of BPW: "Information and knowledge are meant to be shared." Laurie credits much of her personal and professional growth to the women she has met through BPW and encourages members to ask questions, get involved, and never stop learning.
Professionally, Laurie works as a bookkeeper and salesperson at Cairns Farm & Garden Inc. - Ligonier Agway. She enjoys helping customers find solutions for their farm and garden needs and values the relationships she builds along the way. Her ability to connect with people has even helped introduce new members to BPW through everyday conversations at work.
Outside of BPW, Laurie enjoys visiting state parks to discover beautiful waterfalls, collecting seashells at the beach, tapping her toes to music, and spending time working in her flower gardens.
Family is one of Laurie's greatest joys. She and her husband, Denny, have been married for 43 years and are proud parents of Rebecca and Joshua. They are also blessed with three wonderful grandchildren: Hayden, a recent Southmoreland High School graduate, and granddaughters Melah and Aria. Adding plenty of excitement to the household is Lily, their energetic and spirited Jack Russell Terrier.
Laurie is also an active member of Epiphany Anglican Fellowship Church in Ligonier, where she has worshipped for the past 17 years and currently serves as both a lay reader and chalice bearer.
One fun fact about Laurie is that she has traveled to six different countries and is looking forward to adding another destination to her list this year.
Whether serving her community, supporting fellow members, mentoring future leaders, or preparing to lead BPW/PA as State President, Laurie exemplifies the mission of women helping women. Her dedication, faith, leadership, and willingness to share her knowledge continue to inspire those around her.
Thank you, Laurie, for your service, your leadership, and the difference you make every day. We are honored to call you a member of the Latrobe BPW family. đź’™
