Today the Rotary Club of Lathrop met the 2026 District 6040 Shoe Caravan. Larry Lunsford the 6040 shoe champion gave the district the goal of 25,000 shoes to celebrate 25 years! Lathrop did our part. We were given the goal of 425 pairs of shoes. Lathrop is donating 665 pairs of shoes and 1457 pairs of socks to Buckner International. Donated 95 pairs of shoes and 243 pairs of socks locally. So, grand total of our collections 760 pairs of shoes and 1700 pairs of socks. So proud of our little club. One person can do good but when united for good we are amazing!!!

Yesterday we were honored with a private mini concert from the Lathrop Middle School Band. Thank you for coming! They did an amazing job. Here is a couple of pictures and a video of one of their songs.

Today we had our District Governor for Rotary 6040 Jodi Sundaram for Rotary today. Will Galloway was present before the picture was taken but had to get back to the Post Office! Thank you Brett Adkinson for joining us today and taking the picture. If anyone is interested in coming, we meet at Lathrop Brazelton Center at noon on Thursday.

Connel Anderson, a senior at LHS this year came to Rotary. He is the FFA President for both Lathrop and the Area 1. President of NHS for Lathrop school.

We sponsored him to go to Boys State and he came to tell us about his experience. One thing he learned there was "to be a champion of democracy." He was also able to watch a naturalization ceremony, when someone becomes a citizen.

Lathrop Rotary has been a sponors of Boys State, as Gerold Snoddgrass said, "as long as I can remember."

Today, Lex (LHS Sophmore) came to Rotary and told us about New G (short for New Generation Singers).

New G is a Youth Group that sings, based in St. Joseph, but open to everyone.

Thank you Lex for letting us know about the Christian Show Choir you are a part. Good luck on finishing raising funds for the summer tour and as you go on the tour!

Tonight Rotary ended the festival with a bang! Our 50/50 raffle for the night was our largest 1 night give away ever! We sold out of tickets and gave $1,250 to our grand prize winner! Plus 2 others got $50.

Thank you to all who purchased to make the Rotary Scholarships possible!

I will eventually post our official number of raised funds when we get everything fully verified.

Night 2, grand prize was $850, along with 2 other $50 winners!

Again, great for them, even better for those Lathrop Seniors of 2026 who will get a scholarship!

Night 1 we were able to give our grandprize winner over $450 and second place got $50.

It was a good way to kickoff our scholarship fundraising for high school seniors in the class of 2026!
