If you are already 100% P&T. Unless it’s a life threatening illness. Leave it alone. Filing another claim may result in the VA looking at your already service connected condition and may result in a reduction!

Under VA’s cause of death rule; a service connected condition must be listed as primary cause of death for the spouse to be eligible for Dependent Indemnity Compensation aka DIC!

When a Veteran passes away from a service connected condition, the spouse is eligible for DIC and the current rate is $1,666.36 per month. Prepare your spouse for that financial benefit. The spouse is not entitled to the disability pay.

If you are Rated 100% P&T, I advise not to file any claim unless it’s a life threatening condition. Otherwise, if you do file a claim, you are opening the door for the VA to look into your file again. Risking being reduced.
