Mission Statement:
The Andean Explorers Society exposes present and future generations to the theory of intercultural contact in ancient times by conducting cultural, scientific, historical and educational research, study and exploration programs on land and sea to contribute to the discovery and knowledge of ancient civilizations in the world's remote areas, especially the Andes and Amazon River
basin. Geared toward the promotion of exploration by men and women of diverse backgrounds, the organization emphasizes the need to explore little-known areas of the world and to bring back evidence of findings to share with the world. History, legend, and folklore, which encourage original and unique research through the "spirit of exploration," initially assume a more important role than science or technology, but the findings of exploration in and of themselves are little value if not shared openly with science. AES programs are open to everyone. Information is shared with educational institutions, scientists, and specialists of many disciplines. In addition to land and sea expeditions, lectures are provided as a public and educational service to schools, civic organizations, and professional societies.
