"Oy Pon Pi Mai" by Krista

So much pride. So much unity. So many smiles. The LNY parade was something remarkable to witness.

Can you tell us in the comments why they walk around the temple? What does it symbolize?

🎉 Lao New Year was a huge success!
We partnered with ACDC, shared a booth, and worked side-by-side to support our local community.

Together, we were able to provide 50 families with a box of food and a 25 lb bag of sticky rice to take home.

A big thank you to ACDC for your partnership and for generously supplying the food! 🙏 Your support made this possible.

Hand-delivering the boxes and seeing the joy and relief on the families’ faces truly tugged at our heartstrings. We were truly honored to be part of it.

So grateful for the chance to give back together! ❤️

Happy Pii Mai! 🥳✨

If you’re able, please consider donating to our cause. Your support helps power our operations so we can continue organizing food drives, youth dance programs, and helping those in our community who need it most.

Every donation makes a real difference! 🙏

🌸 What an incredible honor to be the first performance and open the Lao New Year Festivities this year!

From the vibrant energy of the crowd to the rich traditions that bring our community together, it was truly unforgettable.

What a great opportunity to witness a stunning performance from our very own dance instructor.

Hey Everyone!

We just wanted to check in and show you what we’ve been working on! We made a special T-shirt for the Lao New Year event! 🎉

Our team will be out wearing our yellow shirts. Come by our booth, say hi, and take a photo at our photo wall! As a small team, we’re limited on staff so we’ll only be there on the 29th for the festivities.

Can’t wait to see and meet everyone!

Please join us in welcoming the newest addition to The Lao Legacy Project team — Krista!

Krista will be leading our Dance Program as our official Dance Instructor, where she’ll play a key role in recruiting and developing dancers within our community. Her vision goes beyond just performance — she’s passionate about preserving the beauty of traditional Lao dance.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Krista is a registered nurse and a proud military spouse, bringing with her a strong sense of discipline, compassion, and leadership.

We’re excited for what’s ahead as she helps shape this program into something meaningful, innovative, and rooted in culture. This is just the beginning — more to come soon!

Welcome to the team, Krista!

Today, our prayers are with the victims of the tragic incident at the Louisiana Lao New Year celebration. During a time when we gather to wash away the past and welcome the new year with hope, this pain is felt even more deeply.

It is heartbreaking to see a moment meant for joy, family, and cultural pride—Pi Mai (Lao New Year)—turned into a scene of fear and sorrow. The tragedy in Iberia Parish has shaken the Lao community, especially given the sacred and communal significance of the festival grounds at Wat Thammarattanaram.

Yet even in the face of this pain, our community remains rooted in resilience and guided by metta—loving-kindness toward one another. We stand together in support of those affected, holding the injured and their families in our hearts.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders who arrived swiftly to provide aid and protection during this difficult time.

May healing, peace, and strength be with every individual and family impacted.

Sincerely,
The Lao Legacy Project
