What started in the NICU became a mission of care, compassion, and hope 🤍

Lean & Learn Health Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit founded by Cebuano nurses Lan Cabatingan and his wife, transformed a personal three-month NICU experience into a focused outreach for families facing neonatal care. The journey shaped the foundation’s commitment to practical, hospital-based support.

Lean & Learn Health Foundation had the privilege of donating 5,364 pieces of diapers to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

This simple act may not take away the heavy journey that NICU babies and their families face, but we hope it brings even a small sense of relief during one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. This donation is only the beginning of the many initiatives we are committed to building for our NICU communities.

During our visit, we learned just how immense the challenges are inside the NICU.
Many don’t know that one nurse often cares for 10-20 babies at a time, a ratio that reflects how deeply understaffed our public hospital NICUs are. Supplies also run short far too often. On difficult days, nurses use their own personal money to buy diapers just so the babies can have what they need to stay clean, warm, and safe.

Hearing these stories and seeing the reality firsthand moved us in a way that words can barely express. These fighter-babies from their very first breath, and the families who stand by them deserve all the support, compassion, and hope we can give.

To the nurses and staff of VSMMC NICU: thank you for showing extraordinary strength every single day.
To the parents: your courage inspires us.
And to the little ones: you are the heart of everything we do.

This is just the start.
Together, we will continue to uplift NICU families... one initiative, one act of kindness, one baby at a time.

Every day, premature and fragile babies fight their first battles in the 𝐍𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 (𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐔), surrounded by love, courage, and the care of healthcare heroes.

Our mission is to support, educate, and bring hope to NICU families. Together, we can spread awareness and honor these little warriors.
