Some marks on the world are made with wood, and some are made with courage.

When James was just 7 years old, he was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. After brain surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, and years later another major brain surgery to stop daily seizures, James continues to show what resilience looks like.

Today, he's a thriving teenager, honors student, talented woodworker, and proud member of our Teen Scene program.

When the opportunity came to create the wooden sign for the Boyd Family Bird's Nest, James poured his talent into something that will welcome and comfort Candlelighters families for years to come.

Thank you, James, for sharing your gift with our community. Your strength has always inspired us, and now your craftsmanship will leave a lasting reminder that every family who walks through our doors belongs here. 💛

Camp may be over, but we’re not quite ready to stop talking about our incredible counselors. 💙

We recently brought our Camp Firefly counselors together for a night of fun, connection, and celebrating the people who made camp happen.

Because being a camp counselor is no small commitment. They have to rearrange work schedules, coordinate with family, give up a week of summer, and show up every morning with plenty of energy, patience, and enthusiasm for our campers.

And somehow, they make it look easy. 😉

To every counselor who gave their time and energy to Camp Firefly this summer, we are so, so, so grateful for you.

We truly could not do camp without you, and we’re lucky to have such an incredible group of people in our corner.

Summer camp season is one of our favorite times of the year. ☀️

Kids from our benefitting charities spent the summer making friends, trying new adventures, building confidence, and creating memories they'll carry long after camp ends.
