NIAS In July of 2013 GOED entered into a grant agreement with NIAS to provide oversight of the program management office and Nevada’s bid for the test site.

In 2012 Nevada began a robust effort to secure the FAA designation as one of the six UAS test sites established to assist with the integration of UAS into the NAS. The NIAS board was formed and on December 30, 2013 Nevada was designated as one of six official UAS test sites.
