¡Hola a todas y todos! 💙

La Comisión de Servicios Públicos de Nevada (PUCN) llevará a cabo una Sesión Pública del Consumidor el próximo martes 16 de junio, y estamos buscando miembros de la comunidad que quieran participar.

Hay varias maneras de involucrarse:
📍 Acompáñanos en persona durante la sesión
🗣️ Comparte un comentario público durante la reunión
📝 Envía un testimonio por escrito si no puedes asistir

Si te preocupan los aumentos en los costos de energía, el nuevo Cargo por Demanda de NV Energy, o simplemente quieres que los tomadores de decisiones escuchen la voz de nuestra comunidad, este es el momento de participar.

Si deseas dar un comentario público, con gusto puedo ayudarte a prepararlo. Si no puedes asistir, también puedo ayudarte a redactar un testimonio por escrito y llevarlo conmigo a la sesión para que tus preocupaciones formen parte del registro público.

🚨 Nevada families deserve affordable and predictable energy bills.

Recent decisions by the courts and the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) have allowed NV Energy’s new Demand Charge to move forward. This charge can be based on a customer’s highest 15 minutes of electricity use during the day, creating concerns about affordability and bill predictability for many households.

Now is the time to speak up.

Before the night ends we want to acknowledge that today is Extreme Heat Awareness Day.

Yesterday, we joined community leaders, advocates, service providers, and elected officials, including for an important conversation about how extreme heat is already affecting families across Southern Nevada.

We discussed the growing impacts of extreme heat on public health, household energy costs, and daily life, while identifying ongoing gaps in heat preparedness. We also explored solutions such as affordable clean energy, energy efficiency, and community resilience investments that can help protect our communities.

Extreme heat disproportionately impacts children, seniors, outdoor workers, and low-income families. Raising awareness is an important first step, but we must also continue advancing policies and investments that help keep our communities safe, healthy, and resilient.

Tuvimos una conversación importante sobre el poder del autocuidado, porque para seguir luchando por nuestras comunidades también necesitamos cuidar de nosotras mismas. 🌿✨

Además, aprendimos sobre la importancia de cómo relacionarnos con oficiales electos, cómo hacer escuchar nuestra voz y cómo involucrarnos más en las decisiones que impactan a nuestras familias y comunidades. 🗣️🏛️

The largest fleet technology expo is happening right here in Las Vegas, and while we’re excited to see progress toward electric trucks, our communities need more than displays and demos. We need these trucks on our streets replacing dirty fossil fuel trucks now.

Our kids can’t wait for clean air. Families across Nevada are already dealing with asthma, pollution, and extreme heat worsened by fossil fuels.

We urge truck manufacturers and industry leaders to move faster and make sure these clean trucks end up where they matter most: in our neighborhoods, helping clean the air our children breathe every day.

Earlier this week, brought community came together for an Affordability Town Hall 💬

Families shared how NV Energy’s overcharges and the new daily demand charge are impacting our homes and budgets.

But this is bigger than just bills.

When we move away from clean energy, it shows up in real ways, higher costs, dirtier air, and more extreme heat. As parents, we feel it right away.

In Nevada, AC isn’t optional it’s survival. But rising costs are forcing families to make impossible choices.

Through Moms Clean Air Force and EcoMadres, we hear it all the time families just want their kids to be safe, breathe clean air, and grow up healthy.
