BE+ Spread Positivity -- That's the mission of BePositiveLV. Every day, through simple deeds, we can all be role models in our community. YOU can help someone.

We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone. All it takes is positivity. And positivity is contagious. Positivity seems to have a ripple effect, triggering cognitive, emotional and behavioral changes. It makes people more open, more loving, grateful, compassionate and forgiving. Recognize that your own actions often have a ripple effect that you don't realize. Any time you make an effort

to do something good, you benefit not just the person you help but also those who witness your act. We don't feel elevation from thinking about charity, we feel it from seeing someone do something charitable. So go do something positive. Something charitable Something kind. Anything. Simple deeds have great impact. And sharing it with others creates a ripple effect. So share it. SHARE your positivity here at Facebook.com/BePostiveLV. Upload your photos and videos of random acts of kindness and our team will work to drive engagement and spread your message and encourage incidents of positivity throughout our community. INVITE or challenge others to BePositive when sharing your content. COMMENT on and encourage others who spread positivity. Together, we can make Las Vegas the kindest, most positive city in America. Yesterday the BE+ Team was back at it again! We were fortunate enough to share some positivity with the kids and awesome staff of Child Haven, a shelter for young victims of abuse and neglect here in Clark County. We played Easter Bunny, dropping off over 50 Easter baskets stuffed with toys, candy and other goodies to some kids ages infant to teen who could really use some good stuff this spring. Spring is the season of positivity and new beginnings. If you want to hop in with a little positivity of your own, help ‘em out at http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/depts/family_services/Pages/Donations.aspx Or spread the positivity .

Amazon Smile lets you donate a little of your money each time you buy something. And we all buy something from Amazon. No increase in cost, just an increase in feeling you helped a little. I chose to help Grant a Gift Autism Foundation.

Channel 13 News did a story on this sweet 7 month old boy named Aprillyon. I'm so glad that our Be Positive team could help this family out. A longer version of this story will run at 6 p.m. tonight on Ch. 13.

A local advertising agency is doing the unthinkable, they are not promoting themselves on social media. Instead, they're using the platform to make Las Vegas a better place to live.

You might want to grab a kleenex for this one. Today our BE+ team visited Aprillyon, a 7-month-old battling a rare form of cancer, Fibromatosis. He suffers from multiple tumors all over his body, requires chemo treatment, 24-hour care and is connected to life-saving machines that monitor his heart and breathing. His mother Rashonda cares for him and is unable to work. As a result, they have fallen behind on their bills and are worried their power will be cut off… The very same power that runs Aprillyon’s medical equipment.

We heard about their story and had to step in with our mission to spread kindness and compassion through good deeds and random acts of kindness and positivity. Today, we delivered needed gifts and household items to support them. More importantly, we surprised them by PAYING OFF THEIR OVERDUE ENERGY BILLS!

This week as we consider what we have to be thankful for, keep this family and little Aprillyon in your hearts and prayers. And remember, if you have your good health, you have everything you’ll ever need. We plan to establish a fund to facilitate future support for this family so stand-by for future updates and a video of our visit. In the meantime, we encourage you to share this story and help us spread positivity.

The FOX5 Surprise Squad returned to Pahrump to buy groceries at Smith's, but it was the residents who did much of the giving. (11/20/2014)
