Traditional learning doesn’t always equal results.

In the latest episode of The CFL Podcast, Youth Innovation Associate, Akilah Bello, is joined by her classmate, Gavin, to discuss what they imagine learning beyond the four walls of a classroom can look like.

Gavin, a current high school student, has made photography more than just a hobby. It’s a profession he’s actively pursuing and through real-world skills like creativity, observation and patience, he’s been able to tell stories and be creative outside of the classroom and learned more than he could ever imagine.

This is a testament to how important learning beyond the classroom is. It’s an opportunity for young people to have experiences that set them up for success in their dream careers and allow them to build durable, real-world skills through hands-on learning and one-of-a-kind experiences.

Learning isn’t confined to the classroom - it’s everywhere. Today, the rapid pace of technological change is redefining what is possible in learning environments faster than ever before.

In the latest episode of The CFL Podcast, we sit down with Maggie Farrell and Ingrid Ruffin from UNLV Libraries to explore how information access is being reimagined for a new generation and crafting environments that connect learners through creativity, collaboration, and real-world exploration.

Think makerspaces, digital hubs, real-world tools, and spaces intentionally designed for connection. ✨💻

Learning has no limits–Lifelong learning is a perfect example of education happening in the most unexpected spaces and experiences.

Pursuing passions and strengthening core skills like critical thinking, financial literacy and communication sets young people up for success long after they’ve graduated.

Jeanine Collins and JimDre Westbrook sat down to discuss what this means for the future of learning and how the out-of-the-box experiences can result in more fulfilled and future-ready young people.

Something new is coming to Las Vegas this summer — and we're looking for the people who will help build it.

The IAN Center for the Future of Learning is launching Future Studios, a hands-on summer learning experience for young people ages 14–18. We're inviting community partners, educators, teaching artists, entrepreneurs, and facilitators to help design and lead a studio.

Not a traditional classroom. Not a lecture. A space for real creativity, experimentation, and mentorship — powered by you.

Throughout January and February, young people, educators, and community members came together across nine Dream Sessions hosted by the Clark County School District and facilitated by the Center for the Future of Learning, creating space to listen, learn, and imagine what is possible ahead.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared your voices, ideas, and experiences. The artifacts you created and the conversations you sparked revealed powerful insights about what learning can and should look like moving forward.

These sessions reflect CCSD’s commitment to building with community by centering the voices of those closest to the learning experience and using those perspectives to shape what comes next.

The ideas surfaced will play an important role in informing the District’s strategic direction and demonstrate what is possible when leadership and community come together with shared purpose.

We are grateful to be part of a broader effort grounded in listening, collaboration, and collective vision, and we look forward to continuing to co-design and amplify these types of experiences across Nevada.

What happens when you give young people the space to build what they care about?

11 bold thinkers took on that challenge during our Spring Break workshop at THIRD Street.

They created passion projects inspired by their vision for the future of learning.

The result: innovative, future-forward prototypes brought to life and shared with educators, partners and the community.

Swipe to see their ideas in action!

80% of a learner’s life happens outside the classroom. We are making sure it counts.

We just wrapped our Spring Break pilot at the IAN Hub, and the results were transformative. Moving beyond the traditional factory model of education, our young visionaries spent the week exploring what it means to be a Nevada Learner

The IAN Hub is more than a program, it’s a place where the Portrait of a Nevada Learner comes to life.

The pilot was just the beginning. We are gearing up for a major launch this summer that will continue to redefine the landscape of learning in Nevada.

Stay tuned for what is next.

Imagine field trips that spark curiosity and feel unforgettable, or learning that leaves young people energized, inspired and eager about the future.

The truth is, those conversations are happening and young people are the ones driving them. While the pressure to focus on GPAs, resumes and “what’s next” is real, the experiences they truly remember are the ones that spark curiosity, creativity and ownership.

In this episode of The CFL Podcast, Youth Innovation Associates Akilah, Marc and Sebastian dive into what learning looks like today and what it could become when it centers around meaningful, hands-on experiences and environments.

Across Nevada, educators, learners and community leaders have come together to shape a shared vision for the future of learning. Now, we’re taking the next step.

We’re excited to help launch the Nevada Future of Learning Network Resources page, a new hub designed to help educators, families, partners and learners bring the Nevada Portrait of a Learner to life.

These tools were built with and for the community to support real-world application in classrooms and beyond.

If you’re working to create more learner-centered, future-ready environments, this is for you.
