As an initiative of NICRP (NICRP), Nevada Afterschool Network works alongside initiatives like Nevada CLPPP, Preventchildabuse Nevada and Nevada Community Health Coalition to help ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, and be ready to succeed going back to school.

Clark County Youth Council Member Colette Bucher recently had the opportunity to shadow Commissioner Justin Jones. During her visit, Colette, alongside her brother and former Youth Council Member Keaton Bucher, met with Commissioner Jones to learn more about his role and toured the Clark County Government Center.

The experience was especially meaningful for Colette, who is passionate about children’s health and community activities. Her time with Commissioner Jones provided an opportunity to learn more about civic leadership and the ways local government can help create a healthier and stronger community for children and families.

Clark County Youth Council Member René Guevara recently had the opportunity to shadow Las Vegas City Councilwoman Olivia Diaz ().

During his visit, René toured Las Vegas City Hall and learned more about the day-to-day operations of city government. This experience strengthened his understanding of how local leadership can help address the issues he cares most about, including preventing bullying, improving school safety and creating more opportunities for children.
