This year, TFA Nevada partnered with TNTP to launch our Building Transformational Schools Fellowship, a year-long professional learning experience focused on strengthening PLCs, instructional leadership, and collaboration across Nevada schools.

We’re especially grateful to the TNTP team members who helped bring this work to life.

Thank you to Dwight Sanders, our lead facilitator, for creating a culture of excellence, community, laughter, and deep conversation throughout the year. His facilitation helped fellows feel both challenged and supported as they applied their learning in real time.

Thank you to Sarah Brochert (NV '15) and Suyapa Canales (NV '14), who were masterful designers of the learning behind the scenes and helped shape training that was practical, thoughtful, and immediately connected to fellows’ work in schools.

Thank you to Tacha Thebaud (LA '00), who helped with recruitment and brought care and intentionality to making sure the right leaders had the opportunity to be part of this cohort.

And thank you to Carmen Orozco, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help secure the partnership and get this project off the ground.

Through this year’s fellowship, participants led projects focused on literacy, writing, data use, attendance, multilingual learner support, SPED systems, and schoolwide collaboration, impacting more than 4,800 students across Nevada.

Thank you, TNTP, for helping us build something meaningful for educators and students across Nevada this year!

LaQuisha Johnson is an Assistant Principal at Lomie G. Heard Magnet ES and a valued member of TFA Nevada’s broader educator network.

Through TFA Nevada’s year-long professional development fellowship focused on PLCs, facilitated in partnership with TNTP, LaQuisha helped strengthen her school’s PLC systems for collaboration, data analysis, and instructional planning.

Her work supported approximately 500 students and 10 teachers across grades 1-5 ELA, with major growth in teacher feedback around PLC structure, standards alignment, and use of tools and resources.

This fall, LaQuisha hopes to continue growing through Communities of Practice, with a focus on literacy leadership and helping teachers see literacy as a shared responsibility across disciplines.

What do you want to grow in next school year?

A warm welcome to the newest members of TFA Nevada's 2026 corps. ❤️📚🏈

Recently, educators, alumni, community partners, and supporters gathered at NV ConnectED to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for the leaders who will soon step into classrooms across Southern Nevada.

A special thank you to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Raiderettes for helping us roll out the TFA teal carpet. Your partnership and encouragement helped make our newest corps members feel seen, valued, and excited for the journey ahead.

Over the next two years, these educators will teach, learn, lead, and build lasting relationships with the students and communities they serve. We can't wait to see the impact they'll make.

Please join us in welcoming the TFA Nevada 2026 Corps! 🎉
