The awesome HCC kids play a vital role in our daily ministry activities! Today, they teamed up with our CEO, Rev Kufre-Abasi Effiong, to help shop for food for the HCC Joehzon Home. It’s a fun and educational experience for the kids as they learn how to barter, make purchases, and manage inventory. The girls will also help prepare meals for nearly 60 people, ensuring everyone is fed three times a day. What a great opportunity for learning and teamwork!

JOINT THANKSGIVING SERVICE MARKS A HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR HOPE LUTHERAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL - JOEHZON WASSCE CANDIDATES

In an atmosphere filled with gratitude, hope, faith, and celebration, the Joint Thanksgiving Service marking the climax of the academic journey of the senior students of Hope Lutheran Senior High School-Joehzon and the official dawn of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to commence on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The inspiring service witnessed the full attendance of all fifty-four (54) WASSCE candidates, accompanied by the Principal, Elder John G. Nyumah; the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hope and Care for Children (HCC), Rev. Kufre-Abasi Effiong; and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HCC and Superintendent of Hope Lutheran Schools, Mr. Wisdom Israel Nyanfor (CKA Mr. WIN).

The occasion was further enriched as it coincided with the Mother's Day celebration of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, making it a memorable and spiritually uplifting event for students, parents, church members, and school administrators alike.

Preaching during the thanksgiving service, Rev. Kufre-Abasi Effiong expressed profound appreciation to the students for their passion, patience, dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment not only to their academic pursuits but also to their steadfast faith in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He reminded the candidates that true success is built upon faith, discipline, integrity, and hard work, encouraging them to approach the WASSCE with confidence, determination, and trust in God.

Special prayers for the students and their forthcoming WASSCE examinations were led by Rev. Nathaniel T. Taylor, who committed the candidates, their academic endeavors, and their future aspirations into God's hands, asking for divine wisdom, protection, favor, and outstanding success throughout the examination period.

Following the benediction led by Rev. Kufre-Abasi Effiong, the students joyfully proceeded to the Office of the COO to receive their WASSCE Identification Slips. In a brief statement, the Superintendent of Hope Lutheran Schools, Mr. Wisdom Israel Nyanfor, announced that all fifty-four (54) candidates would receive their WASSCE slips regardless of tuition arrears or any other outstanding financial obligations owed to the school. The announcement was met with great appreciation and excitement from both the students and their parents.

Mr. Wisdom Israel Nyanfor further challenged the candidates to remain focused, disciplined, and courageous as they prepare to undertake one of the most important examinations of their academic lives. He assured them that the same God who had brought them this far would continue to guide, strengthen, and sustain them throughout the examination process and beyond.

Each candidate subsequently received his or her WASSCE Identification Slip, symbolizing their readiness to embark upon the next significant step toward higher education and future career aspirations.

As these young scholars prepare to bid farewell to high school and embrace the next chapter of their educational and professional journeys, we humbly call upon friends, supporters, alumni, and well-wishers around the world to join us in prayer for divine wisdom, protection, favor, and outstanding success as they sit the 2026 WASSCE.

The Administration of Hope Lutheran Senior High School-Joehzon extends heartfelt appreciation to Hope and Care Outreach (HCO)-USA, Hope and Care for Children (HCC)-Liberia, the District Education Office (DEO), the Ministry of Education (MOE), WAEC Liberia, parents and guardians, teachers, and support staff for their continuous prayers, sacrifices, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout the students' academic journey. Your collective contributions have helped shape, nurture, and prepare these young men and women for this defining moment in their lives.

To our beloved students, congratulations on reaching this remarkable milestone. The future awaits you. Go forth with confidence, faith, and determination. Go and prove yourselves. Make your families, your school, your community, and your nation proud.

As the Scriptures remind us in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. "Remember always, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Today marks that important step toward a brighter future.

Congratulations, Class of 2026!
May God grant you wisdom, favor, and success in all your endeavors.

The Hope and Care Joehzon campus relies on reservoir tanks that are filled by an underground electric pump for its water supply. Recently, the pump broke down, creating a challenge for the HCC community. Luckily, one of the HCC sons, Blessing Wratto, who serves as the electrician for the home, came to the rescue. Although repairs to the old pump were not successful, Blessing stepped in to replace it himself, saving HCC hundreds of dollars by avoiding the need to hire an external contractor. The home, clinic, school, and store are all grateful for Blessing’s hard work and dedication to the ministry. He is one of many children HCC has trained who are now using their God-given talents to bless others in the home, church, school, and community.

Dear Heavenly Father, On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who courageously laid down their lives for the cause of freedom.
We thank You for their selfless dedication and the ultimate sacrifice they made so that we could enjoy the liberties of today. We ask that you comfort their loved ones and give them your peace, which surpasses all understanding.

Hope Lutheran School in Joehzon recently held its final chapel service for the 2025-2026 academic year, centered around the theme "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." During this uplifting event, two students were baptized, raising the total number of baptisms this year to 16! We are grateful to the Lord for a successful year that has seen students flourish both spiritually and academically.

This service marks the conclusion of regular instructional activities and the beginning of mock exams for the senior class, along with final exams for the younger students.

On June 1st, all 12th-graders in Liberia will kick off their WASSCE Exams. We invite you to join us in prayer for all students as they navigate this demanding and challenging period.

Sharing is the heart of Hope and Care Ministries, in the USA and in Liberia. Today, 40 cartons were shipped from the main campus of Joehzon to the HCC Home in Foya. The clothing will be distributed among the 18 HCC kids, staff, and their families. We bless God for the goodness of Orphan Grain Train, Inc. and Hope and Care Outreach donors, so we share God's love with HOPE!
