NAN, house under UNLV's NICRP, supports out-of-school-time programs to provide access to safe and quality opportunities for all school-age youth throughout Nevada. The Nevada Afterschool Network provides a variety of services to out-of-school-time providers and staff, community members, parents and youth. Included in our services are professional development opportunities, workshops for families o

n accessing quality programming for their children; fun activities and web based links for children to explore a variety of topics and for help with homework. The Network is also part of a nationwide network of similar programs that promote advocacy, policy, and fund development for out-of-school time programs.

NAN & NICRP are teaming up with Dartmouth University to study the effects of 3D printer emissions on air quality and health.

We are looking for OST programs in Nevada WITH ACCESS TO A 3D PRINTER who are interested in helping with this study over the next few months!

Programs selected to participate will receive a free 3D printing curriculum and safety manual and free 3D printing materials!

Participation includes the following activities:
✔ Visits from a Nevada Flight Crew Member and/or NAN Staff to observe and measure current 3D printing usage (minimum of 2 hours each time)
✔ Pilot implementation of a new 3D printing curriculum
✔ Completion of brief pre and post surveys by OST program staff and youth participants (no identifying information will be included in the study)

⛏️ Calling all Northern Nevada girls!

Girls in grades 3–8 are invited to explore the exciting world of mining through hands-on STEM activities at Mining Mavens, hosted by The Discovery and EMPOW[HER].

Participants will learn about the mining process, discover careers in geology and mining, and gain insight into the many opportunities available in Nevada's STEM workforce.
