The desert heat doesn't discriminate, but its impacts are devastatingly unequal. ☀️⚠️

With the Clark County Coroner reporting at least 260 heat related deaths investigated so far this year, the urgency in Las Vegas couldn't be clearer, especially for our unhoused neighbors facing relentless triple digit temperatures.

At Campus for Hope, we are building a long term solution for our community, and while our doors won’t open until 2028, the people suffering need help today.

It’s ! 🤝 Today, we are honoring a true pillar of strength and compassion in Southern Nevada, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.

Since 1970, the Las Vegas Rescue Mission has been on the frontlines every single day, providing immediate relief and long term restoration to men, women, and children experiencing homelessness, hunger, and addiction.

Here is a look at the vital, life changing services they provide to our community:

🍲 Feeding the Hungry: Serving nearly 30,000 warm, nutritious meals every month to anyone in need of a warm plate and a welcoming environment.
🏠 Emergency Shelter: Offering safe, overnight shelter, clean facilities, and basic necessities for individuals and intact families navigating crisis.
🌱 Addiction Recovery: Guiding men and women through a comprehensive, residential recovery program designed to heal addiction, rebuild life skills, and restore independence.
🎒 Community Care: Distributing essential hygiene items, clothing, food boxes, and seasonal aid to help families make ends meet.

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission doesn't just meet immediate physical needs they restore hope, dignity, and purpose to thousands of lives each year.

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the survivors, the families forever changed, and the incredible first responders who showed ultimate courage on October 1, 2017.

As Campus for Hope establishes its roots in Las Vegas, we carry a profound respect for the resilience, compassion, and strength of this community. We remain forever dedicated to being a place of healing, support, and hope for all of Southern Nevada.

Today we are proud to highlight our essential partner, the Nevada Department of Human Services, for their dedication to building safe, stable, and healthy communities across Nevada.

Through vital public assistance and supportive programs, Department of Social Services (DSS) serves as a critical safety net for thousands of Nevadans every day:

🍞 Food & Nutritional Support: Managing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and Summer EBT to keep Nevada families nourished.
🏥 Healthcare Access: Connecting qualified individuals, families, children, and seniors to low-cost or no-cost Medicaid coverage.
🏠 Family & Energy Assistance: Providing temporary financial assistance (TANF), child care support, and utility relief through the Energy Assistance Program (EAP).
💼 Employment & Support Services: Assisting job seekers with skill development, career resources, and child support enforcement tools.

We are deeply grateful for our collaboration with state partners like DSS as we work together to elevate the well being and self sufficiency of all Nevadans.

The Center delivers critical, wrap around social and medical support to thousands of individuals and families annually, including:

🏥Comprehensive Health & Wellness: Operating the Arlene Cooper Community Health Center, offering low barrier medical care, free diagnostic screenings, PrEP navigation, and an integrated pharmacy.

👥 Youth & Family Development: Facilitating evidence based, therapist led support groups, peer mentorship, and youth empowerment initiatives.

✨ Social Safety Net Services: Providing emergency food support, harm reduction initiatives, veteran and senior resources, and accredited advocacy for victims of crime.

It’s 🤝, and we’re honoring the incredible work of Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada !

✨Legal stability provides the foundation for building a secure life. Legal Aid Center actively offers vital assistance in key focus areas like:
• Eviction Sealing & Tenant Disputes
• Clean Slate Record Sealing
• Temporary Protective Orders
• Social Security Disability & Bankruptcy
• along with additional programs for foster children, crime victims, consumer protection, and free legal education!

We’re so excited that Legal Aid Center will provide their services on-site at Campus for Hope when the campus opens in 2028! Addressing these challenges under one roof will open new doors to housing, employment, and personal safety. We are incredibly proud of our Chief Program Officer, Dr. Albert Chavez, for taking the stage this month to champion our mission at Campus for Hope.

Dr. Albert recently shared our vision and collaborative solutions at the EmployNV 2026 Southern Nevada Workforce Summit and spoke passionately at the Las Vegas Host Lions Club Luncheon. His dedication to creating pathways out of homelessness and building a stronger community is at the heart of everything we do.
