It was a great first day of SNOA Fall Sports Meetings this past Sunday at Durango High School!

Thank you to all of our officials who attended, and a special thank you to Durango High School for hosting SNOA.

We look forward to seeing everyone again this coming Sunday for our next round of meetings as we continue preparing for the fall sports season!

SNOA would like to thank all of the officials who participated in the first-ever SNOA Lacrosse Clinic at Lee's Family Forum.

The clinic focused on Lacrosse 101, providing officials with an introduction to the game and its mechanics.

A special thank you to the Las Vegas Desert Dogs organization for hosting the clinic and to their players for taking the time to share their knowledge and insights with our officials. We also extend our appreciation to all of the instructors, especially Joel Kerben, for organizing and leading this event.

We're excited that NIAA lacrosse begins in the spring of 2027, and this clinic was an important first step in preparing officials for the upcoming season.

SNOA Soccer Board Member Joe Oberndorfer appeared on Channel 3 News talking about the impact World Cup soccer has made on soccer in the Las Vegas Valley. Joe has been officiating soccer for 16 years and is a member of the NFHS Soccer Rules Committee.

It's an exciting time for lacrosse in the state of Nevada! Boys and girls lacrosse will be played as an NIAA sanctioned sport beginning in the spring of 2027.

SNOA is excited to invite current officials to attend a collaborative Lacrosse Officiating Clinic presented by SNOA and the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. This clinic is at no cost.

This clinic is designed especially for officials who may be curious about lacrosse but have no prior lacrosse experience. Your existing officiating skills already provide a strong foundation. This clinic will introduce the game, explain the basics, and help you see how your judgment, communication, positioning, and game-management skills can transfer to the lacrosse field.

Training topics will include:

Girls & Boys Lacrosse 101
A beginner-friendly overview of the game, field, equipment, positions, and flow of play.

Face-Off Rules and Mechanics
An introduction to one of the most unique parts of the boys’ game, including basic positioning and responsibilities.

Basic Game Administration
Pre-game duties, in-game communication, penalty administration, and post-game expectations.

Lacrosse Officiating Standards
Professionalism, consistency, communication, and what it takes to succeed as an on-field lacrosse official.

This is a great opportunity to learn a growing sport, expand your officiating options, and support the development of lacrosse in Southern Nevada. You do not need to know the rules before attending. You do not need prior playing or coaching experience. You only need a willingness to learn.

The Las Vegas Raiders hosted 86 high school football officials from around the state for a training session at their Headquarters on May 31st. Training sessions were led by ACC Officials Darryl Johnson, Juan Cardenas, Ben Keller, and Pac-12 Officials Gary Reed and Don Denson. Thank you to all of the presenters.

Thank you to SNOA Commissioner of Officials Larry Hanson for organizing the training session, and to the Reno officials who traveled to Las Vegas, which included NNFOA President Mark Jacoby and NIAA Football State Rules Interpretator Steve Rohwer.

SNOA thanks the Las Vegas Raiders organization, Jordan Aguilar, and the Raiders staff for making this a fun event for officials statewide.

The Raiders hosted the Southern Nevada Officials Association officials academy where officials were able to learn and talk with one another about updates in high school officiating

Thank you to the Las Vegas Aviators, UMPS CARE Charities, and the Triple-A crew of Mickey Smith, Macon Hammond and Sean Sparling for a memorable evening for SNOA Baseball umpires last night. Prior to the game there was a meet and greet in the umpires locker room. The crew shared some of their experiences and answered questions. A gift bag was provided by the Aviators and the group sat together behind home plate for the game.

SNOA congratulates the following graduating high school seniors who received one of the 2026 Bob Calkins/Rick Richardson/Myron Partridge/Gary Redmond SNOA Graduating Senior Scholarships. These students are either members of SNOA or have parents who are members of SNOA. These scholarships were awarded due to their excellence in the classroom and involvement in the community. A $500.00 scholarship was presented to each student at their school. We wish all of you the best of luck in your educational pursuits!
