ALS of Nevada

ALS of Nevada provides much-needed services for people with ALS and their caregivers in Nevada.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) of Nevada is an independent, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization striving to improve the lives of those living with and fighting ALS throughout Nevada, one person at a time. The board of directors and executive director raise funds through events, corporate donations and sponsorships, grants and the generosity of individuals. A

LS of Nevada’s primary goals are to:

- Help the Nevada persons with ALS (pALS), their family/caregivers live as full and normal a life as possible.

- Aid pALS through the loan of equipment or by other means.

- Serve as a liaison, linking the pALS to available resources and information.

- Educate and inform the general public as to the nature of ALS.

The Senate has passed the ACT for ALS Reauthorization Act!

This is a major bipartisan milestone. Both the House and Senate have now approved legislation to extend critical ALS research, expanded access, and drug development programs.

The work isn’t finished yet. Because the House and Senate passed different versions of the bill, Congress will need to resolve those differences when lawmakers return in September before the legislation can be sent to the President.

Thank you to the bipartisan champions in both chambers who have helped move ACT for ALS forward. We’ll continue working to ensure this important legislation reaches the finish line before the current authorization expires on September 30.

Congress has a chance to keep important ALS research and expanded access programs moving forward, but time is running short.

The House has already overwhelmingly approved ACT for ALS reauthorization. Now we need the Senate to follow.

With the current law set to expire September 30, every message to Congress helps demonstrate that the ALS community expects bipartisan action to continue.
