Shake a tail feather-
Sid is feeling better!

🦆 Thank you to everyone who has donated to our fundraiser to treat Sid’s arthritis and bumblefoot. He’s healing and feeling quack-cellent!

🦆 And we’re hoping we will be able to help care for more our webbed footed friends in the future with this experience. For now we’re happy to have Sid back in the water and he’s happy to have a bath just in time for a hot duck summer!

Yesterday, our sweet Casper the friendly goat passed.

The night before, Casper was having a harder time getting comfortable and laying down. Even then, when he saw his hay, he pushed himself back up to eat. Casper always loved his breakfast & dinner time.

That morning, Tara moved water closer to him because she suspected he might be struggling more than he was letting on. He drank a little, but not as much as usual.

Sometime later that day, Casper passed away peacefully. He was loved by his human and his goat, chicken, duck and pig family members, and brought joy to visitors who met him.

Casper was originally rescued in 2013 from a Craigslist ad selling “meat goats.” It was only in his later years living with mobility challenges due to a degenerative joint disease. As his body aged, he often relied on fences and other supports to help hold himself up.

Even as his body changed him, Casper continued to greet each day with hope, always ready for his hay and those who loved him. Run free, Casper. We’ll love you today and always.

We’ll see you then and every Wednesday! We welcome volunteers to help out with animal care for our 170+ rescue “farm” animals.

🪏 Help us rake/clean the residents’ areas, scrub pools & water troughs, finish special projects, and spend time with the animals.

🫶🏽 We appreciate you staying the entire time, but any time you can spare is appreciated.

👟 Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

This moment was from a few months back because Sherman is spending the summer in the garden with his chicken and turkey friends. There, he won’t be able to burrow to the depths of infinity, something he’s tried to do before that we had to stop (or else he’d dig so far that he wouldn’t/we wouldn’t be able to get him out.)

But for anyone who’s been thinking of Sherman, come say hi to him on a Wednesday volunteer afternoon! Or if Wednesdays don’t work, message us to schedule a visit (Sherman loves tomatoes, please feel free to bring him one if you come out) 🐢🩷

🎉 SAVE THE DATE FOR BINGO! 🎉

🗓️ See you at on 6/25! Doors open at 6 pm, and the games begin at 7 pm.

We’ll be raising much needed funds for the animals, watching performances from the most talented queens like , enjoying vegan pizza and supporting who will be there will vegan treats!

🎁 We’re also looking for bingo & raffle prize donations donations for our first drag queen bingo of the year!

If you’re a local business or a creative of any kind who is in the position to donate vegan friendly goods or services, we would greatly appreciate it. We’re a 501(c)(3) organization for any tax deduction purposes, and would love to offer a private tour of the sanctuary for your generosity!

All proceeds from bingo go back to the medical, food and shelter addition expenses for our sanctuary animals.

Wildwing got a pedicure today 💅

His nails were just a little long, so this handsome boy needed a little TLC. We found dog or cat nail clippers work the best on tough duck nails, and regular nail clippers for humans work well for chickens.

He’s not a big fan of being held and we respect that always, but we know he’s walking a lot better now and his feet feel better too 🦆🙌

If you’ve ever visited us, then you likely met Daisy. Daisy is a sassy diva and we love her for it. She’s lived with her best friend Mae since September 2022 after we lost Mae’s mom Holly from cancer. Daisy was living in a private local sanctuary but she was a lone cow and also needed a friend. Before that, she was a lone cow living in Pahrump in need of rescue. Together, Daisy and Mae grew to love each other and spend their days together.
