Camp Monakiwa Camp Monakiwa is located in the Mineral Hills of Las Vegas NM, & was founded by the Lubbock Chapter of Campfire Counsel in 1960 for Campfire girls of all ages.

Camp now welcomes everyone! While sessions aren't continual the goal is to open again soon. Camp Monakiwa is not a "Church" camp but open to all denominations and people. Lubbock area church camps previously housed at this location include but are not limited to South Plains church of Christ’s camp Evergreen and Green Lawn Church of Christ’s Camp Followin’. Unfortunately the camp changed chapter ownerships, fell under some rough times, and had to close its doors to regular & full time camp sessions for campers in 2010. Thankfully this closure is only temporary as Campfire Counsel members and Volunteers like you are working toward fixing the camp up! The goal is to have Monakiwa up and running again, as it was before, within the next 4 years.
