You will notice the church is now decorated in green and the priest is wearing green vestments. This is because we are now in the season of Ordinary Time, which lasts 33-34 weeks and the liturgical color assigned to Ordinary Time is green.
The "Ordinary" here does not refer to a season of dull routine but rather the listing of ordinal, or sequential, numbers. This is what is meant by the Second Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, etc. Rather than making a statement about degrees of importance, the term Ordinary Time refers to the order of Sundays in the church year that do not fall into the major liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, or Easter.
Christmas Time and Easter Time highlight the central mysteries of the Paschal Mystery, namely, the incarnation, death on the cross, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, and the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Sundays and weeks of Ordinary Time, on the other hand, take us through the life of Christ. This is the time of conversion. This is living the life of Christ.
Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to pe*****te ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ. The goal, toward which all of history is directed, is represented by the final Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
Make this Ordinary Time “not so ordinary” by doing something extra to strengthen your relationship with Christ and his church!

High Steaks Victory: Archbishop Pays Up After Stanley Cup Wager Loss

LAS VEGAS (June 15, 2026) — Archbishop George Leo Thomas, Ph.D., extends his congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes on their Stanley Cup victory and to the faithful of the Diocese of Raleigh.

A wager is a wager, and the Archdiocese of Las Vegas is happy to honor its commitment. While we are disappointed that the Golden Knights fell short, we remain proud of our team and grateful for an exciting season.

As promised, we will send Bishop Zarama two Mafioso steak packages from the Golden Steer and hope he enjoys this taste of Las Vegas.

We offer our friends in Raleigh our prayers and best wishes as they celebrate bringing the Stanley Cup home to Carolina.

Thank You for Strengthening Our Church
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Catholic Stewardship Appeal Matching Campaign.
Because of your generosity, Christ the King raised more than $43,300 during the campaign and successfully maximized the $30,000 matching opportunity made available to our parish community.
Your gifts will help support seminarians preparing for the priesthood, retired priests who have faithfully served the Church for decades, Catholic Charities, Catholic education, and ministries throughout our Archdiocese.
Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your commitment to the mission of our Church.
Together, we are making a difference.

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA

"St. Anthony, St. Anthony, come around! Something's lost that must be found!" Did you learn this rhyme in childhood? St. Anthony of Padua is more than the patron saint for lost items. By his life, he shows a special interest in lost souls. St. Anthony was born to noble parents, but he preferred a simple life of faith to the riches of his childhood. He joined the Franciscan order in 1220. He quickly became known for his eloquence in preaching. He had a way of reaching all sorts, from nobles to clergy to those who had fallen away from the Catholic faith. In addition to preaching, St. Anthony organized supplies for the poor and negotiated release for prisoners of war between Italian city-states. However you or your loved ones feel lost this week, pray for St. Anthony's intercession!
