Trick-or-treating is almost here, and yes, kids can enjoy their candy!

A few simple habits can help protect their smiles:

🎃 Enjoy candy around mealtimes instead of snacking on it throughout the day.

💧 Choose water after treats.

🍭 Be mindful of sticky candies that can cling to teeth.

🪥 Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.

Halloween should be fun. Enjoy the treats, then show those teeth a little extra love!

Building healthy smiles for the future also means building a strong organization behind them.

Today, Future Smiles Director of Operations Christine Kenney is joining fellow nonprofit leaders from across Nevada for Nevada GrantLab’s Sustainability Initiative Alumni Reconvening.

Future Smiles was one of 21 Nevada nonprofits that participated in the Sustainability Initiative, designed to help organizations strengthen long-term sustainability through planning, training, and technical assistance.

Today is an opportunity to reconnect, reflect on what we’ve learned, and continue planning for the future through workshops, peer learning, and conversations about navigating change and making thoughtful decisions when resources are limited.

We’re grateful to Nevada GrantLab for investing in stronger nonprofits and, in turn, stronger Nevada communities.

No tricks, just healthy smiles! 🎃

Halloween candy is part of the fun, and kids don’t have to skip their favorite treats to take care of their teeth.

Here’s one simple tip to start the month: Try enjoying candy with or shortly after a meal instead of snacking on it little by little throughout the day. Frequent sugar exposure gives cavity-causing bacteria more chances to produce acids that attack tooth enamel.

And after the treats? Reach for water and keep up with brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.

This October, we’ll be sharing more realistic ways to enjoy Halloween AND take care of those smiles. 🧡

This World Smile Day, we’re celebrating the children and families who remind us every day why access to care matters.

At Future Smiles, we want families to know about resources that can help them access the health care they need. Nevada Health Link Open Enrollment begins November 1, and eligible Nevada families can apply for Medicaid or Nevada Check Up year-round.

Now is a great time to learn about your options and make sure your family is prepared.

Come along with us for a look inside and see our team in action! From getting ready for the day to welcoming our patients, there’s always something happening at the Nevada Women’s Philanthropy Dental Wellness Center. 🧡

Our mobile School Sealant Program brings our team and portable dental equipment directly into participating schools, making it easier for children to receive dental sealants during the school day.

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help protect them from cavities.

By bringing this service directly to schools, we help remove common barriers for families, including transportation and lost school time, while helping children protect their smiles.
